We have four students right
now attending Martin
Luther College in New Ulm
preparing to be pastors and
teachers. In the offering
envelope pack you will find a red offering envelope for the
Scholarship Fund. With this money we try to give these
students some financial support. Martin Luther College will
match whatever you give our students up to a $1000. Martin
Luther College does not have access to as many scholarships
as other college may have and so whatever we can give them
is a big help. Pray for our students and support them in any
way you can.

LOOKING FOR CONFIRMATION PICTURES
Following are the confirmation pictures we are missing since 1919. 2017 1951 1940 1939 1937 1930 1923 1921 1919 This is actually amazing when you think about it. 100 years of pictures and we are missing 11. We are also missing everything from 1866 to 1919 with the exception of 1909, 1907 and the oldest one Pam was able to find, 1892. We have those three. Not sure how much luck we will have getting the other older ones.

was given and accepted. Reports were heard from Finance, the Annual Report, Elders and our Luther High delegate. There was no unfinished business. With a few changes the salary proposal was accepted and with our synod pledge set at $55,000 the budget was passed. We are working toward switching to a fiscal budget which will run from July 1 to June 30th of the next year. We are working toward beginning this budgeting process this summer. It was announced that two memorials were received by St. John’s. $10,000 was given by Ron Wanek in memory of his parents. Ruth Brandt who now enjoys the perfection of heaven gave St. John’s congregation $344,000. The Endowment Committee after prayer, study and discussion will give recommendations on how best to use this money to the glory of God and for our blessing. If you have suggestions for the use of these gifts, please speak with one of the pastors or the members of the Endowment Committee. We thank God for such gifts.

Hebrews 10:24,25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. This passage is a good summary of what we are trying to accomplish with the Peter Plan. We want to spur each other on toward love and good deeds. But those flow from faith. Faith comes from hearing the Word of God. So what we are trying to do is with contact with each other to encourage each member to stay in contact with the Word of God. For in the Gospel there is hope, the hope of eternal life. It is so easy for any of us to drift away from contact with the Word of God. It does not seem important. Maybe things haven’t changed in your life since you stopped coming to church. Unfortunately our faith does not give us the same hunger pains that our stomach does when we fail to eat. There really is not a part of our body that reacts when we fail to hear the Word of God. But faith does say, “I was glad when they said to me, let’s go to the house of the Lord.” We all struggle, some more than others, when it comes to hearing God’s Word. But we all need it because none of us can sustain faith by ourselves. God gives it and only God sustains it and he does that through the Gospel in Word and Sacrament. That’s why we want you to come to church and hear the Word of God. It is not about money. It is not about getting our way. It is not about making you do something. It is about keeping you connected to your Savior. It is about, humanly speaking, getting you to heaven. It is about staying in contact with Jesus. Faith says, “I want to hear”. Unbelief says, “who cares”. We need each other. That is why God put us on this earth. We are to love God and love our neighbor. The most loving thing we can do is share the Gospel. That is the goal of the Peter Plan. We pray it is a blessing for St. John’s. We pray that the Gospel is shared among us through it.
