“So He was not able to perform any mighty deed there, apart
from curing a few sick people by laying His hands on them. He
was amazed at their lack of faith.” Mark 6:5-6
Stewardship is a faith response. Christ could not perform good works
without faith. Neither can we. If faith without works is dead, so are
works without faith.
Have you remembered St. Joseph in your will?

Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Ez 2:2-5; Ps 123:1-2, 2, 3-4; 2 Cor 12:7-10; Mk 6:1-6a
...because of the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the
flesh was given to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me, to keep me
from being too elated. 2 Corinthians 12:7
It’s hard to imagine a thorn in our flesh or, certainly, to be beaten
by an angel of Satan! Fortunately, we don’t have to face what Paul
finds himself going through in today’s second reading. Yes, we all
must endure pain and misery at times. But we are assured that God
will help us to endure the suffering (His grace is sufficient) and the
great joy awaits us. In fact, Paul tells us that if he didn’t have the
accompanying suffering, he would be too elated because of the joys
of God’s revelations.
The more time that we spend in prayer and in seeking a better
understanding of those revelations, the more joy-filled we will
become. When we do suffer, when we are ill, dealing with a
tragedy, coping with the loss of a loved one, we can endure
confidently, knowing that “the power of Christ” dwells within us.

Marriage Moment
In a healthy marriage both spouses strive to be good and strong. Sometimes it is through recognizing our weakness that we can grow
stronger. What a mystery! “...for when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Cor. 12:10) Can you identify a weakness in yourself that has
punctured your pride and made you a better spouse?
Parenting Pointer
July 13, is Friday the 13th which means bad luck to some people. Why not turn the tables and make it a lucky day for someone
today. Can you think of a way to make someone feel lucky today?
