GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE
Brothers,
Once again we had a busy month. Our council held a second degree on March 8
th. Our degree team did an outstanding job that night
thanks to the degree team captain SK Rich Olivea, PGK, FDD and all the members of the degree team. We had about 20 candidates make their second degree including one of our own brothers Danny Festa.
March 13th was the annual St. Patrick ’s Day parade and party.
This year we had about 15 brothers march in the parade, including the Honor Guard, Father Bill and our DD Mike Boehm. Back at the Hall PGK Ralph Ferrara prepared his usual corned beef and cabbage. A special thanks to Ralph for running the event and to the Lilley family for providing the entertainment.
March 16th was our pizza social night along with the 40 cans for
lent. Thanks to our members we collected about 550 lbs of food that was divided up between the three churches that night thanks to a few of the ladies that were there that night.
Spring is finally here and so is April which looks like another busy month for our council. April 1
st is a third degree at our council. We are
looking at 40 candidates making there degree that night. April 3rd
is our communion breakfast and our social night is April 20
th. Ralph is preparing
his BBQ baby back ribs that night.
The Chapter Charity Ball is also approaching fast, it is June 26th at
the Watermill in Smithtown. We need to show our support for the Chapter,
and fill a table or two. If you want to go to the Charity Ball please let me
know.
Hope to see everyone soon.
Respectfully yours,
VIVAT JESUS

Statement of Knights of Columbus CEO Carl Anderson on State Department’s Genocide Declaration
Following Secretary of State John Kerry’s finding of genocide being committed by ISIS against Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson released this statement:
Today's announcement by Secretary of State John Kerry is correct and truly historic. For one of the few times in our history, the United States has designated an ongoing situation as genocide, and the State Department is to be com-mended for having the courage to say so. By joining its voice to that of the House of Representatives, the American people, and the international community, the United States today makes clear to ISIS that its attempt to stamp out reli-gious minorities must cease.
The United States and the world are united on this, and simply will not look the other way. The Knights of Columbus is pleased to have been able to work with the State Department in providing a nearly 300-page report filled with compel-ling evidence that genocide was occurring against Christians as well as other religious minorities. We thank Secretary Kerry for seriously considering the evidence, and commend the State Department staff for working closely with us in this endeavor.
Following this declaration, America must continue to focus on those being killed in this genocide, and our country, and the international community, must make sure the slaughter ends and that these innocent people are protected.
There is much work still to be done, but this represents an important step forward.

The Dignity of The Human Person
The dignity of the human person is rooted in his creation in
the image and likeness of God; it is fulfilled in his vocation
to divine beatitude.
It is essential to a human being freely to direct himself to
this fulfillment. By his deliberate actions, the human per-
son does, or does not, conform to the good promised by
God and attested by moral conscience.
Human beings make their own contribution to their interior
growth; they make their whole sentient and spiritual lives
into means of this growth.
With the help of grace they grow in virtue, avoid sin, and if
they sin they entrust themselves as did the prodigal son to
the mercy of our Father in heaven.
In this way they attain to the perfection of charity.

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney
God, our Father, protector of the poor and
defender of the widow and orphan, you called
your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be
an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the
young to the generous service of their neighbor.
Through the example of his life and virtue may
we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely,
fulfilling his commandment of charity and build-
ing up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your
servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we
may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast.
We humbly ask that you glorify your servant Father Michael J.
McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will.
Through his intercession, grant the favor I now present (here make
your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father, Hail
Mary, Glory be.
