St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church
St. Julie Billiart Parish Easter Sunday
From the Desk of Father George Greetings to all! With shouts of ‘Alleluia’ and ‘Christ is Risen’, we celebrate Easter Sunday. God’s great love for us through Christ is the hope
and promise of an unending Easter when we too will rise from the grave. What a glorious day as we celebrate this great feast! This Easter, we should all have great hope. While the pandemic is still very much part of our world, the number of vaccinated individuals continues to increase. If we still practice
the guidelines of safety and social distancing, I believe we will find our way out of the darkness. It is my hope that Lent and the celebrations of Holy Week (either in person or virtually) were able to offer you a sense of God’s love and forgiveness. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all who
ministered in any way during this Holy Week. Your commitment to serve and offer your time and talent continues to make St. Julie’s a beacon of faith and celebration of our Catholicity. Thank You! May the Risen Lord fill your hearts and homes with grace, joy and peace. Happy Easter everyone!
Fr. George Parish News and updates:
• Have you heard about the Heart of the Shepherd Campaign?
It was first initiated by Bishop Perez. After his departure from
Cleveland to become the Archbishop of Philadelphia, the pandemic
struck, placing everything on hold. Bishop Malesic is now an
enthusiastic supporter of this campaign. The purpose is to update
our 70-year-old Seminary buildings, solidify the Retired Priest
pension fund, and assist newly ordained priests in their debt
reduction. Go to www.catholiccommunity.org/heart-of-a-shepherd
for more information about this exciting Diocesan venture which
St. Julie’s will soon be joining. More information about the
campaign at St. Julie’s will be coming soon!
• ALSO… have you heard about a survey named: The Disciple
Maker Index. This valuable tool (created by The Catholic
Leadership Institute) is a simple survey that can help St. Julie’s
to expand our spiritual footprint. The purpose is to engage
parishioners in reflecting upon their spiritual growth and
discipleship. It will help to identify the ways in which our parish
effectively supports that growth and look at opportunities to
better support that growth in the future. In addition, the survey
will provide valuable input to help the pastor and parish leaders
make decisions and plan effectively in order that the pastor and
parish leaders have a sense of where to focus their evangelization
efforts. To participate in this survey and to learn more about it,
go to: www.dioceseofcleveland.org/offices/parish-life/missionary
-discipleship/dmi-survey The deadline for participation has been
extended to April 19th. While this information is relatively late in
being brought to the forefront, I believe it has a value that can
only enhance our faith journey! (continued)
Your opinions will be of great value as
we move forward from this pandemic.
Your responses (name, identity) ARE
confidential. Only the data will be
shared back to the pastor and diocesan
representatives.

He bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When
Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had
covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. - Jn 20:5-7

I will tell someone that Jesus is alive.
Easter Sunday • John 20:1-9
Mary Magdalene was surprised when she found the empty tomb of Jesus. She ran and told Peter and John that his body was gone. Peter and John ran to the tomb. They found no body, just strips of cloth. One piece was the cloth that covered the face of Jesus. Peter and John knew that Jesus was not in the grave, even though they did not understand what it meant to rise from the dead.
Jesus, you died and rose from the dead so I can share your life on earth and in heaven. Thank you.
Draw Mary, Peter, and John looking inside the empty tomb.
Read the Gospel of the week and color the image.
CYCLE BFit this Gospel message into the empty squares:
Bake Resurrection Cookies with your family tonight.
You can find the recipe online at http://homehearth.virtualave.net/rescookie.html.
Easter Sunday • John 20:1-9
It was very early in the morning on Sunday. The tomb stone was rolled away. Jesus was gone. All that was left inside were the strips of linen cloth. When John and Peter saw it, they were amazed. They did not understand all the promises the prophets wrote about Jesus yet. However, they knew he was alive. He had risen from the dead!
God, I thank you for bringing Jesus back to life.
Draw how surprised Peter and John were when they saw Jesus’ empty tomb.
