John Di Crescenzo

Born in Guardiagrele, Italy in 1944, John’s love of art developed from an early age. The close association with his country helped develop a strong affinity for the local landscape. John studied art at the Chieti Art Institute. He has concentrated his artistic talent exclusively in watercolour paintings and John’s subject matter is today dominated by the influences of European subject matter, most notably Tuscan and Venetian landscapes. In recent years, John has been the recipient of numerous awards and conducts watercolour classes.

HONORARY JUDGE

Jon DwyerJon is widely acknowledged as one of Australia’s leading art experts and is a respected valuer. He has been in the art business for over thirty years coming from a three generation “Art” family. He has solid working experience with both Australian and international art.

Jon spent his formative years as Director of the Leonard Joel Painting Department and it was at Joel’s that Jon established himself as a leading figure in Australian art. His ability to locate hard-to-find works and his talent for identifying the stars of tomorrow gained him a loyal following among collectors. He is highly skilled and experienced at both buying and selling art.

Joining Christie’s International auction house in the 1990s, Jon headed up their Valuation Department. He was appointed to Christie’s Board of Directors in 2000 and later became head of their Australian and International Painting Department. Jon was a senior auctioneer for Christie’s.

Jon is an Approved Valuer for the Cultural Gifts Programme for the Australian Federal Government and has also been an Examiner for the Protection of Moveable Heritage.

Jon is now Managing Director of Dwyer Fine Art and he has valued and/or acted as consultant for many of Australia’s most significant corporate and private collections, and law firms as well as acting on behalf of a number of key Australian public institutions. Jon has an extensive knowledge of all areas of the Australian art market from traditional, through to modern and contemporary and is frequently called upon by the financial and legal sector for his expertise in market analysis and authentication.

Western ChancesMany families in Melbourne’s West

struggle to meet all the costs associated with school, let alone the extras

needed to really progress the talents of our young people.

The objects of Western Chances are to:

“Provide scholarships to young people in Melbourne’s West who do not have the finances, networks and resources to pursue their education and career

goals and fulfil their potential”.

We have found that the scholarships enrich the self-esteem of the young

people, raise the hopes of the young people and their families and, reward teachers, schools and organisations for

their belief in our young people.

Your support of Western Chances would be greatly appreciated.
