Baseball (Boys)

Session I: Hitting Camp

June 10th—13th 8:30—10 am 4th—8th Grade

Session II: Fielding Camp

June 17th—20th 8:30—10 am 4th—8th Grade

Session III: Pitching & Catching Camp

June 24th—27th 8:30—10 am 4th—8th Grade

Join Coach Pete Lotus, his staff, and current and former Viking

players for Viking baseball camps. Attendees will learn the skills

and fundamentals of the game through the same methods that

have produced numerous Catholic League Blue, Regional and

Sectional Championships and national recognition over the past 13

seasons.

Cost: $60 per session OR $150 for all 3 sessions

Basketball (Boys) June 24th—27th 12—2:00 pm 5th—8th Grade

Coach Jim Sexton and his staff are offering a fun and fast-paced

camp for all skill levels, broken down by age groups. Coach Sexton

will teach campers the same fundamentals, offensive, and

defensive principles that he uses with the high school team that has

led to back-to-back 20+ win seasons and Regional Championships.

Basketball (Girls) June 17th—20th 12—1:30 pm 4th—8th Grade St. Laurence girls basketball coach George Shimko, the 2017 Daily Southtown Coach of the Year and 2018 Regional Champion leads this camp. In addition to his success at the high school level, Coach Shimko has years of experience running camps at the youth level. Attendees are sure to improve their skills at this fun and exciting camp.

Cost: $60

Cheer (Girls) July 15th—18th 8:30—10 am 5th—8th Grade Participants will learn sideline cheers, dance, motions, jumps, tumbling drills, and stunt drills with the award-winning Golden Girls and coaches. Participants will be grouped by age.

Cost: $50

Football July 15th—18th 12—2 pm 4th—8th Grade Join the St. Laurence football coaching staff for this camp for all rising 4th-8th graders. The camp is open to all skill levels and is no pads and non-contact. Campers will improve their football skills in a fun and instructional camp.

Cost: $85

Injury Prevention for Female Sports June 17th—20th 8:30—10:00 am 5th—8th Grade

This camp led by Coach Brad Leshinske will help the female athlete

avoid injury through understanding proper warm up, jump training and

agility training.

Lacrosse (Boys) July 15th—18th 8—10 am 5th—8th Grade

Come experience the fastest game on two feet! From beginners to

experienced players, all campers will enjoy this action-packed camp

led by Coach Sopko on the turf field. Attendees should bring their own

equipment, but rental equipment will be available.

Cost: $50

Soccer (Co-ed) July 8th—11th 12—2 pm 5th—8th Grade

Join Coach Boekeloo and his assistants for this co-ed camp. Learn the

fundamentals and skills that are used with the high school teams. All

skill levels are welcome. Campers should wear soccer cleats and shin

guards.

Cost: $50

June 10th—13th 10—11:30 am 1st—4th Grade

Join Coach Teagan Walsh, her staff, and players for exciting, skills-

based camps on all aspects of softball. Campers should wear spikes

and bring a glove and bat if they have one. The camp will be at the

Burbank Fastpitch Field at Macarthur Park on 83rd and State Rd.

Cost: $65 per session OR $120 for both sessions for 5th—8th

Speed & Agility (Co-ed) July 8th—11th 2:15 —3:30 pm 4th—8th Grade

Coaches Darrell Reed and Brad Leshinske will lead this camp focusing on the basic fundamentals of speed and agility.

Cost: $50

Strength & Conditioning (Co-ed) June 10th—13th 12—1:30 pm 5th—8th Grade

Join Coach Leshinske for a strength camp that is open to all

athletes. Campers will learn basic safety and technique in the

weight room. They will also do a number of exercises to

strengthen their muscles and build cardiovascular endurance.

Cost: $50

Tennis (Co-ed) June 24th—27th 12:00—1:30 pm 5th—8th Grade

Coach Kikos will teach the basic fundamentals needed to excel in the game of tennis. All skill levels are welcome.

Track (Co-ed) June 24th—27th 8:30—10 am 5th—8th Grade

Coach Darrell Reed and his staff will develop your skills in the various track and field events — sprints, distance, hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, and discus, using the same methods that produced the school’s 1st Catholic League and Sectional Championships and 4 Division I athletes last year. No previous experience necessary.

Volleyball (Co-ed) July 8th—11th 8:30—10 am 5th—8th Grade

St. Laurence All-Skills Volleyball camp led by Coach Ellen Yopchick offers four days of instruction and competition intended to teach players the fundamental skills and knowledge of the game. Campers will be placed on courts according to skill and grade level for an optimal learning experience.

Cost: $70

Volleyball Attacking Clinic (Co-ed) July 17th 7—8:30 pm 7th—8th Grade

A one-day clinic for rising 7th graders through seniors in high school. Coach Ellen Yopchick will focus on the fundamentals of attacking to improve everyone’s spiking ability.

Volleyball Defensive Clinic (Co-ed) July 18th 7—8:30 pm 7th—8th Grade

A one-day clinic for rising 7th graders through seniors in high school. Coach Ellen Yopchick will focus on the defensive fundamentals essential to the game of volleyball.

Wrestling (Co-ed) June 17th—20th 12—1:30 pm 5th—8th Grade

Join Coach Andrew Curran and the rest of the Viking coaching

staff in the Viking wrestling room. Coach Curran is a former

Division I wrestler who will improve your skills on the mat.

Analytics/Sabermetrics June 10th—13th 10:15—11:30 am 4th—8th Grade

Explore the world of sabermetrics and analytics. Campers will use

the same formulas professional teams use to determine the best

and most valuable players in their sport. This fun and innovative

camp could be the starting point to a career in your favorite team’s

front office!

Cost: $50

App—Coding June 24th—27th 10:15—11:30 am 5th—8th Grade

This introduction to computer programming will expose students to

critical thinking skills, the logic structure used to create apps and

computer programs, and basic coding tasks. Using Apple’s Swift

language, students will complete multiple coding activities and

learn various techniques that make coding simple. All students

must have either an Apple iPad or Mac. No previous experience is

necessary.

Cost: $50

Art June 17th—20th 1:45—3 pm 5th—8th Grade

In this summer art camp you will have a space and supplies to

create 2-3 final artworks. Materials that we will work with are paint,

charcoal, clay, and graphic design apps. You do not need to have

prior experience. This will be a space where you can experiment

and learn to make different projects: zines, posters, sculptures,

abstract drawing and more.

Band July 15th—18th 2:15—5 pm 5th—8th Grade

The STL band camps is for those who have completed at least a year

of instruction on an instrument. Students will participate in a weeklong

process of learning and performing concert music with STL band

director Mike Trovato.

Cost: $75

Drama July 15th—18th 12—2 pm 5th—8th Grade

Drama camp allows students to explore dramatic and theatrical arts in

a fun environment. Led by STL Players Director Brian Herman, along

with members of the STL Players, the camp incorporates fundamentals

of acting, improv, and teamwork through fun games and activities.

Cost: $75

eSports July 15th—18th 10:15—11:30 am 5th—8th Grade

eSports camp places focus on popular team-oriented video games

such as League of Legends, Fortnite, Overwatch, and other video

games for PC or Mobile. Participants will learn about new strategies,

game mechanics, and teamwork and communication skills. Players of

all skill levels are welcome.

Leadership Session I: June 17th—20th 10:15—11:30 am 5th—8th Grade

Session II: July 8th—11th 10:15—11:30 am 5th—8th Grade

Come learn how to be a leader from the premier leadership program

on the Southside! Since leaders are made, not born, this camp will

concentrate on the five best practices of a leader, how to use them in a

group, and how a leader effectively leads a group.

St. Laurence Summer Camp Waiver

As parent/guardian of the participant in this program, I hereby take

all responsibility concerning my child’s physical condition upon en-

tering camp. I recognize, acknowledge, and agree to assume the

full risk of any injuries, damages or loss, which may be sustained

as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with

or associated with such camp(s). I further agree to indemnify and

hold harmless St. Laurence HS from any and all claims sustained

by my child, arising out of, connected with, or in any way associat-

ed with the activities of the camp.

I confirm that my child has up-to-date health insurance coverage

and understand that this organization does not provide health in-

surance for students in the camps. In the event of an emergency, I

authorize any treatment deemed necessary from any accredited

hospital and/or physician(s) for the immediate care of my child/

children. I agree that I am responsible for providing insurance cov-

erage and payment for any and all medical services rendered. By
