St. Louis de Montfort Church Oak Lawn, Illinois

Hello everybody! Well, it is official, it is I, Fr. Stan Stuglik, your newly assigned pastor. I am very happy to be with all of you and get to know your great parish and all of the wonder-ful people that make it so great as I continue my priestly ministry here at St. Louis de Montfort. I am also very thankful to Fr. Ron Mass and all of his hard work at this time. My thanks to Fr. Eze for his time and help these past 6 months as well. Although it is with sadness that I leave St. Patricia’s and the friends I have made there, I am looking forward to share my priestly ministry along with the deacon, and all of the parish staff and parish volunteers, including our fine school and all of the teachers and staff. As I mentioned in my bio a couple of months ago, I was born, grew-up and lived my whole life here on the south-side. I attended Marist High School and went on to study and major in architectural engineering/construction management at Purdue University. I worked for approximately ten years in the com-mercial and industrial areas of construction as an assistant architect, assistant field superintendent, estimator and moving up to chief estimator and project manager be-fore entering Mundelein Seminary back in 2005. I was ordained in 2010. I come to you from my second parish assignment, St Patri-cia in Hickory Hills, where I have just completed my one year. For my first parish assignment, I was assigned for five years at St. Catherine of Alexandria in Oak Lawn, IL. Many of my friends and parishioners of St. Catherine’s and St. Patricia’s have al-ready informed me that their relatives and/or friends attend St. Louis de Montfort. I want to get to know all of you personally as much as possible. Please don’t be shy to introduce yourselves to me as I come to learn your names and your lives. You will hear much more about me in the coming weeks. Oh, one more point that is crucial, I really enjoy sports, especially golf, football and baseball. Even though I live on the south side, I do not follow all of the traditional south side teams. If you are guessing by now who I cheer for, then here it is. I am a true Cubs fan and a Green Bay Packers fan, along with being a Blackhawks fan too! You will see a lot of green and gold everyday and the beautiful saying of “Go Pack Go!” along with the royal Cubbie Blue colors. I hope you will accept this Green Bay Packers/Cubs priest into your hearts! By the way, my first homily is this, “The letter “G” stands first for “God”, then “Greatness”, followed by “Glory”, then for “Green Bay”. As Vince Lombardi was known for saying throughout his coaching life, his three great loves in life in order are; God, family and Green Bay Packers.” May God continue to bless all of you along with your families and friends! May our Blessed Mother continue to pray for all of us and bring us closer to her Son. St. Louis De Montfort, pray for us also!

Message of the Week – The Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Luke 10:1-12, 17-20 Our faith is more than a personal experience. It’s more than a routine that fits into our weekly schedule. Our faith is meant to be shared with others, even when that requires a bit of work on our part. It can be tempting to think, “I believe, I go to church, isn’t that enough?” But Jesus tells us that there is an abundant harvest out there—countless people who may just need to know that Jesus loves them or that someone is willing to help. If we don’t step up to the task then those people will miss out on that word of encouragement, that personal invitation to Mass, that act of kindness that might have made all the difference in their life. God may be calling some of us to an even deeper commitment—to be a lay minister in a parish or to discern a religious voca-tion, for example—but there is no doubt that God is calling all of us to labor for his kingdom in some way. Question of the Week: Who do you view today as the laborers for Christ harvesting the fields?
