"God sees things in you that you don't see in yourself." (p 53 "Rediscover Jesus")What do we see when we look in the mirror? We often look most closely at the flaws that are readily apparent orwe look vainly at only the beauty and ignore those parts that are not pleasing. When we look beyond the outward,the physical and immediate, we are called to look deeper. In our spiritual journey, when we seek to see how Godsees, we can, just as we do with the outward, look critically and seek only the flaws (the sins) in our life or we desireonly to see the good and discount the things we need to work on and correct as we, in our vanity, believe we aregood enough.We are reminded that God sees us as we are. He sees our sins. He sees our blessings. He sees our victories and ourdefeats. He sees all of this and yet beyond all of this into the goodness and holiness in which He created us to be and"sees things in you that you don't see in yourself."God sees in pure love...

This year we will be returning to Matthew Kelly's book RediscoverJesus to help us in our Lenten journey. We prayed with this book afew years ago and in conversations with parishioners and staff it wasrecommended we review our faith and knowledge of Jesus in re-reading and praying once more with Rediscover Jesus. I wouldencourage you to dig through your books at home and find the copyyour family was given two years ago. We will have a limited numberof "extra" copies available for new parishioners and those who havemisplaced the book. It took me a little while looking through mybookshelves to find my copy so I hope that you are able to find yours.

Social Justice Ministry Opportunity at St. LucyMarch 17
Have you ever felt powerless to do anything about a problem orconcern that affects you or someone you know? (for example, thelack of affordable housing, health care, drug use, homelessness,unemployment, mental health services) Many others haveexperienced the same issues. Individually, we have very little power tomake a difference. Together with many others, our voices will have amuch stronger influence in addressing the Social Justice issues andconcerns within and beyond our Community. Here is an opportunityto get involved and make a difference. A core team consisting of St.Lucy's and St. Thomas of Canterbury members has been meeting andattending training to prepare and launch a community HouseMeeting. These are meetings of small groups where we will listen toeach other as we share our stories and experiences, developrelationships, and discover talents and interests. March 17th from 3pm to 4:15pm in the Gym.
