2015- 2016
St. Margaret’s Preparatory School After School Co-Curricular
Activities In addition to providing a high quality, robust and challenging academic curriculum, we promote the benefits of a wider programme to give opportunities and develop a range of skills and attributes. Our aim is to encourage each pupil to develop personally, advance their sense of responsibility and enhance independence skills. Therefore we intend that our range of co-curricular activities will provide a balance to the academic curriculum, broadening subject knowledge, theoretical literacy and complimentary capabilities. From September 2015 most lunchtime activities and some after school activities will be free, all are optional. They run from September to July during term time. Some activities have a maximum number of pupils, therefore we will run a first come, first served system. If you wish for your daughter to join in an activity please complete the Co-Curricular Booking Form and return to the Prep School Office by Friday 26
th June. A letter/e-mail confirming your
daughter’s After School Activity choices will be sent out to you by the end of this term.

Ballet
Ballet is a form of expression, an artistic dance form that can be used to tell a story or convey an emotion. Ballet improves co-ordination, endurance and strength, helps with posture, flexibility, coordination, strength and grace. It can enhance self-awareness and subsequent self-confidence.
Through ballet children learn to follow instructions, set goals, gain pride in their accomplishments and understand what it means to work in a group.
Chess
Chess can offer the potential for better performance in academic studies and enhances problem solving and strategic thinking. Through playing individually and in a team a pupil’s self-esteem is enhanced. Our lessons are structured and differentiated according to ability with weekly coaching and regular assessment of performance. Healthy competition is encouraged within a safe environment.
