Matthew 5: 46-48 “For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.” The St. Mark parish is blessed to have a dedicated group of parishioners who participate in the Hospitality and Welcoming ministries. While these ministries begin the process of welcoming visitors and new parishioners into the St. Mark parish community, they do not take away from the responsibility that each and every St. Mark parishioner has as a Baptized disciple of Jesus Christ, to be welcoming to those who are new to the parish, visiting the parish, or each other. Small gestures: like greeting those sitting around you in church, inviting someone you do not know to join you at the Coffee and Donuts after the 7:30am and 9:30am masses, or inviting someone new to the parish to come to a parish activity or ministry that you are a part of goes a long way and means a lot to those who are new to our community. The St. Mark Pastoral Council asks that all parishioners pray and consider participating in the Hospitality and Welcoming ministries. If you would like to get involved in these important ministries, or would like more information regarding these ministries please reach out to Angi Swiezy the Coordinator of Catechesis and Parish Life at [email protected] or 317-787-8246 Ext. 104

Pastoral Council Blessing of the Animals on the Memorial of St Francis went well. We had approximately between 10 to 12 dogs that were blessed. Thanks for all the work the Liturgy Committee did to organize the Blessing of the Animals. Last month the Liturgy Committee supplied munchies and sur-veyed people after the 11:45 am Mass. I wanted to be sure that we were meeting the needs of parishioners who regularly attend the Mass. The suggestions and comments were tallied and combined. Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer some questions. There were lots of great ideas and comments to tweak the Mass; overall people are satisfied with our 11:45 am Mass. It is good to hear people are pleased with the Mass. The Marian Grotto in the courtyard (also known as Mary’s Valley) is done! Depending on the weather and if the landscap-ing is completed, we hope to have a blessing this Sunday after the 9:30 am Mass. Thanks to everyone who helped create the grotto. It was a big endeavor and worth all the time and energy. It is so incredible to see at night. Feel free to come and pray at our grotto.

Blessings, Fr. Bill

RECEIVE 50% OF YOUR DONATION TO SAINT MARK BACK TO YOU! The word is out. More people are donat-ing to the Indiana State Tax Credit Schol-arship Program and taking advantage of this unique tax opportunity. Your gift to St. Mark Catholic School, through the Institute of Quality Education (IQE), will help our students afford a high quality, Catholic education. IQE began accepting donations for tax credit scholarships on July 1, 2018. The cap for the 2018-2019 fiscal year is $12.5 million, but these credits are expected to run out early. Donate early to take advantage of the 50% state tax credit opportunity. This program is a win-win for donors and our St. Mark Catholic School students. Please contact Steve Helmich, Team Leader ([email protected]) or Rusty Albertson, Principal, ([email protected]) for more information. You can also donate online at http://www.i4ged.org/sgo/donors. Make sure you designate St. Mark Catholic School for your donation!

WHAT A PARTY! TOWELS, BLAN-KETS, SHEETS, AND SLEEPING BAGS...LITERALLY ENOUGH TO FILL A TRUCK!

The sorting is complete...the sleeping bags are delivered to Chela Moody and the homeless ministry. Items needed as a result of two recent home visits are being prepared for delivery, and six huge totes (like grocery stores use for watermelons) were delivered to the Distribution Center by parishioner Ron Mikkelson. There they will be repacked for use by clients referred from parishes like ours. Our special guests, Jeff Blackwell who directs the Distri-bution Center, SVdP Indy past-president Pat Jarrell, and Changing Lives Forever coordinator Domoni Rouse all com-mented on our vibrant parish. Many thanks go to Baskin Rob-bins Greenwood, Kroger for the cakes, and JP Ban with Zacha-ry Candy for their generous donations that helped defray the cost of the event. The big thank you is reserved for each of you. We are grateful beyond words for your continuing support.
