As we resume our public Masses at phase 1 of the COVID-19 pandemic we must observe certain guidelines. Therefore, in order to serve our community better and work with the best logistic possible, we would like for you to call the parish office 479-524-8526 if you are planning to participate in the weekend Masses. At this point we can only make use of 14 pews. Our dispensation for Sunday Mass is still being granted by our Bishop indefinitely. If we runout of our lim-ited space due to required 6 ’physical dis-tancing, you may try to attend some of our weekday Masses as an option. Please make sure to review some of the guidelines for attending Mass, such as wearing a mask to cover your mouth and nose, sanitizing your hands as you come in, avoid attendance if you do not feel well or have been exposed to someone who test-ed positive for COVID-19, etc. Upon your arrival our ushers will take you to your seat. So please follow their instructions. Thanks for your understanding during these chal-lenging times.

I would like to extend my appreciation to all of those who have made our livestream Masses possible and those who participated in them spiritually during the past challenging months since public worship was suspended tempo-rarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the resumption of public Masses and still spaces available in our parish of St. Mary’s, we will no longer be livestreaming our weekly Masses. As Cath-olics, our ultimate goal is to sacramentally par-ticipate in any of our Eucharistic celebrations. Many of you have found spiritual consolation through our virtual Masses, and for some of you this was, and may still be, the only way to spiritually participate in Mass. In the meantime, we will continue to livestream our Sunday Masses (https://facebook.com/StMary-SiloamSprings-100137671646410/) until we are able to use our facilities to a full capacity. Meanwhile, all guidelines and health precautions are still in place, including social distancing and the use of face masks. We will continue to pray for all of you, especially those who have been affect-ed by the coronavirus. Father Salvador

Now that we are having Mass in the church, we are following all the safety precautions from Bishop Anthony Taylor. Phase I Restrictions: • Come to Mass wearing masks: All Partici-pants, including children over 10 years of age, must wear masks or other covering of their mouth and nose. • If you signed up to come to Come to church early: We can only provide seats for 25% of the church capacity. • Do not give the sign of peace by hand. • Holy Communion will be one specie only: the Body of Christ. • Holy Communion will not be distributed on the tongue. • There won’t be blessings for those who don’t receive Holy Communion: If you can’t receive Holy Communion, please do not go in the line to the altar. • Respect the 6ft. distance. • Please listen and respect the directions and guidelines from the ushers: The ushers have been trained by Father Salvador with all the requirements from the Diocese of Little Rock.

• If you are sick, or you don’t feel well, or you think that you were close to someone that was positive with COVID-19, please stay home.

The Sunday Mass obligation remains sus-pended indefinitely for all people, not only for those who cannot attend due to a parish’s crowd-reduction measures. Even so, all people remain obligated to “keep the Lord’s Day Holy”, which they can do in any of a large variety of ways, including the fol-lowing: • Sunday participation in Mass can be live streamed, or with TV-active participation, not just passive viewing. • Attending weekday Mass in lieu of Sun-day when Sunday Mass in unavailable. • Private prayer for an hour- which is the amount of time you would have spent at Mass, mediating on Scripture readings for the Sunday Mass, praying the Rosary, the Liturgy of the Hours, novena prayers, etc.

Got too much ‘stuff’? Time to ‘quaran-clean’? The Knights of Co-lumbus will be glad to take your un-needed, saleable goods for our semi-annual yard sale to be held Sat. 8/29. Call Gerry Donner at 524-5550 or Chyle Rollins at 957-1411 if you have questions. Some donations we may be able to pick up; the hall will also be open prior Thurs and Fri night from 5-6 p.m. to receive drop off items for the Sat. sale.

With all the current changes, please check for any new changes using our communication resource places. www.stmarysiloamsprings.com Facebook Bulletin Call the parish office at 479-524-8526, we are open to public, just to follow the safety guidelines, please wear your mask when you come in.

OZARK CATHOLIC ACADEMY RUMMAGE SALE Please plan to check out the OCA Rummage Sale that will benefit the student Athletics program. OCA is looking forward to welcoming its largest class this fall with 31 new students! That will bring our student community up to 77 students. With the larger student body, we are looking to add a Spirit Squad and baseball team to the sports program that currently includes Cross Country, Track, Golf, Volleyball, Archery, men and women's Basketball. As a new member of the Arkansas Activi-ties Association (AAA) OCA will compete in the 1A-1 West Conference this fall. The Rummage Sale is to support the growing Athletics program. Plan to stop by, check out all the great items, and bring your friends! Masks and social distancing will be in place for your browsing comfort. It will be held at Knights of Columbus hall across from OCA, 233 N. Barrington Road, Tontitown on Friday, July 10 11am-3pm.

CONGRATULATIONS to Doug and Judy Blank on their 50th wedding anniversary on June 27, 2020. May God bless you, dear couple.

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time When we were baptized, we were baptized into Christ’s death. Take a moment to ponder these profound words. We were baptized into death. In every sense of the word, we are asked to die. This is not just about our final death but about daily deaths due to inconvenience, discomfort, pain, loss, or others’ needs. This is an incredi-ble epiphany given the way we very often approach our lives. We do everything to avoid death, let alone encounter it! Many avoid pain, discomfort, inconvenience, un-easiness, change, interference, and suffer-ing of any kind. We put a lot of energy into finding the easiest and least inconvenient way through many things. Even holding the door open for a stranger or saying hello to someone in the store can be major under-takings. We are called to die. One of the big-gest wake-up calls we can have is realizing that life is not about us! There are millions of other people sharing life on this planet with whom I have a relationship. Does my life cel-ebrate those relationships? The most dis-tracting question we can ask is, “What do I want to do?” The more focused, faith-filled question is, “What do I need to do?” What I need to do may not be what I want to do. However, asking this question more fre-quently will teach us how to more purpose-fully and intentionally live so we can be a life giving vessel for others. When we learn to live more sacrificially, to put the needs of others before our own, and to not always seek our own self-interest, we become aware of what baptism into Christ’s death is really all about. These are the roots of virtue and the seedbed for justice, tolerance, soli-darity, love, and peace. Learning how to accept all the “small deaths” and sacrifices life calls us to teaches us how to approach our final death. All deaths ask us to empty ourselves into some-thing or someone else. Whether we empty ourselves into the heart and soul of another human being or empty ourselves into God at the moment of our final death, new life is always received and nurtured. A heart that exclusively seeks its own interest is a heart that is closed to love. A heart that pours itself out to others and is content with being emp-

tied is a heart that has been touched by and open to mercy. It is a heart that o v e r f l o w s with joy.

SCAM ALERTS Recently, another round of SCAM E-MAILS has gone out impersonating Fr. Salvador Marquez, Bishop Taylor & others Priests in our community. These scam emails use a fake “gmail” account and even include a picture of him. One of these is particularly insidious, since it references a priest being diagnosed with COVID-19 (which is false), in an attempt to scare the recipient into thinking that Fr. Salvador needs immediate financial help. It should go without saying that Fr. Salvador will NEVER contact anyone per-sonally asking for gift cards, money, or other financial assistance. Please do not respond to any such emails; delete them immediately.
