PASTORAL LEADER’S NOTES Dear Parishioners,
NEW STAFF MEMBER IN BOTH PARISHES!
Please join me in welcoming Sr. Colleen Demro to our parishes in Winneconne and Omro. Sr. Colleen comes to us with a ready smile, a boatload of energy and boundless enthusiasm.
She is currently a novice in my community but will be celebrating her profession and taking temporary vows at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc on Sunday, June 2. She will be in a summer program at the Motherhouse and will be joining us sometime in August. She is originally from Green Bay and comes to us with a degree in nursing and surgical technology but will be with us in the coming year to learn about church ministry. I did tell her last week that we will have no trouble providing her with plenty of church ministry experiences and there will never be a shortage of activities for her to be involved in with our two parishes!
We will be living together in Oshkosh and I’m sure you will enjoy getting to know her as much as I am sure she will enjoy getting to know all of you.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A couple of weeks ago there was a note in the collection that read:
“Sister Pam: Why do we change Mass times between Omro and Winneconne every six months? Please reply in person or in bulletin. Thank you.”
Since there was no name on the note I thought I’d just write a response as part of my weekly article. Here is part of what I wrote back in 2007 when I was first appointed as the Parish Director for Winneconne and Omro and we started to talk about changing Mass times:
“One of the issues that we need to address in both parishes right now is our weekend Mass Schedule. Starting in November the priests from St. Raphael in Oshkosh will become the Sacramental Ministers for both parishes. Currently the mass schedules for St. Mary, Omro and St. Mary, Winneconne overlap making it impossible for one priest to preside at all the masses on a weekend in both parishes and for me to be present as well. In order for us to be present at all the liturgies in both parishes we will need to change the weekend mass schedule... Let’s pray for openness and flexibility as we work together to find the best schedule that will serve both communities of faith.”
A Transition committee was formed with representatives from both parishes to look at all the possibilities of Mass Times. The parishioners were then asked to respond to a survey letting us know which Mass times they would like for their parish. The results of the survey showed that both parishes wanted the same Mass times. In order to make a fair decision the Transition Committee decided to let each parish have the most popular times for six months.
After we informed the parish of the Transition Committee’s decision I wrote this in the bulletin and it is still true for today: “...No Mass schedule will ever work if we don’t put positive energy into our efforts. Jesus never said that being a disciple of His was going to be easy but He DID promise us that He would always be with us. That’s good enough for me. What about you? “
Sr. Pam
Please pray for the repose of
the soul of Marianne Minew.
May God grant peace and
consolation to her family and
may all who sleep in Christ

Global Outreach Catholic Exchange Program is looking for Host
Families for 2019-2020 school year.
We are looking for families to host Catholic students from East–Central Europe
(Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia) for the 2019-2020 school year. These
students will attend Lourdes Academy. We need loving families to provide room, board,
and transportation for the school year. By hosting a Global Outreach student, you will be
offering a young person the chance of a lifetime. Your own family will also be greatly impacted and enriched by generously opening
yourselves to a Global Outreach student. For more information contact Barbara
Tota-Boryczka, the Executive Director of the program at (920) 540-3085 or
email [email protected] or Father Larry Seidl, the Spiritual Director of the
program at (920) 412-0320 0r [email protected]. Please check our website www.globaloutreachprogram.com to
learn more about our mission to build civilization of love by forming young, dynamic
