Respect Life Committee The Party Platforms Regarding Abortion

Bishop Thomas J. Tobin Democrats – Want to protect access to “safe

and legal abortion.” For the first time, Democrats include in their platform the controversial goal of overturning the Hyde Amendment which prohibits the use of federal money for abortion. In addition, the platform says that “we will continue to stand up to Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.” Republicans – The platform is unambiguously antiabortion in all cases. It seeks to stop the collection of fetal tissue used in medical research, and calls for the defunding of Planned Parenthood. It also supports the continuation of the Hyde Amendment. (Source: the LA Times)

Are You Scared Yet? The Democratic Party platform this year is more extreme than it has ever been, “…that an unborn child just hours before delivery should have no Constitutional rights.” The Republican Party: The most basic duty of government is to defend the lives of its own citizens. Any government that fails to do so is a government unworthy to lead.

~~~~~~ Until all are welcomed in life and protected in law.
