From the Desk of Father Hahn:
National Vocations Awareness WeekThis week is National Vocational Awareness Week. God is calling many young men and women to serve him as priests and religious in our time, but we need to help them to hear the call.
How can we help? By praying for those who have a call. Pray that they might have the wisdom to hear the call and the courage to follow it no matter what the obstacles. Join the parish in a special Holy Hour for vocations this Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Also, from time to time the diocese and various religious orders have special events to help young people discern their vocation. You might think of encouraging young people whom you think may have a calling, to go to these events.
Together let’s pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life, especially from within our own parish and diocese.
Holy Land PilgrimageThis Wednesday I and a group of 58 other pilgrims made up of parishioners of the consortium and some family members and friends travel to Israel to go on pilgrimage. We will be walking and praying in the places that Our Lord once walked and prayed. Please keep us in your prayers as know that you will certainly be carried in our prayers at these holy sites.
In Christ,Father Hahn

National Vocations Awareness WeekAs Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives! He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood, and others to religious life. Some remain as generous single people. Fully living our own vocations – and teaching young people how to discern God’s call – is a serious duty, but also a joyful one. Today begins National Vocation Awareness Week. During this week, please pray about how God is calling you to live your vocation more deeply. Encourage the young people in your life – children, grandchildren, students, and friends – to be open if God calls them to priesthood or consecrated life. Please take the prayer card from the pew and pray it each day.
Teach Your Children to Use GPSAfter Mass today, have a conversation with your children, asking, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” After a few moments of discussion, ask, “Who do you think God wants you to be when you grow up?” Emphasize to your children that God has a specific plan in mind for them, and that following God’s plan is the surest way to happiness. Every life decision – which college to attend, whom to date, which job to pursue, whether to enter seminary, whom to marry – should be undertaken only after praying for God’s guidance. In other words, encourage kids to navigate life using GPS – God’s Positioning System.
As a parish we will offer a Holy Hour for Vocations this Wednesday, November 6th, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Plan to stay and pray for our current priests and religious, and for the future of our youth as they move into their vocations. Our religious give countless hours each week for the salvation of our souls. Can we spare an hour to join in prayer for them, current and future?
Please add Father Hahn, Father Hartge and our consortium pilgrims to your prayers for the next two weeks as we travel to the Holy Lands. Be assured of our prayers for you as we walk the footsteps of our Lord.
We are still looking for a Church Photographer and a Church Warden to arrive early for Mass and get things ready, as well as locking up after Mass. Call or email the church office if you can help our parish in this way. Also, Outreach still needs a food delivery person on Wednesday mornings. You can call Autumn at the Outreach for more information at 947-7151. If you haven’t volunteered to help with Coffee Hour, please see the bulletin board, or stop and talk with Cindy.
2020 Offering Envelopes: Parishioners who wish to keep receiving their annual offering envelope packets need to do nothing. If you want to begin receiving or discontinue receiving the offering envelope packets, please contact the parish office no later than November 17th, 2019. The 2020 envelope packets will be placed on a table at the entrance of the church in mid to late December.
Our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner will be November 17th. After the great success of last year, we will have a Live Auction again. We are looking for new items that can be donated. We are also calling all Crafty Parishioners to make hand crafted items for the auction.
Alex Brady will be having a solo saxophone recital tomorrow, Monday, November 4th, at 9:00 p.m. at Capital University in Mees Hall. There is no admission fee and there will be a reception following the concert. Everyone is invited.
The 8th Annual Sacred Heart Congress will be Saturday, November 16th, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St Michael Church, 5750 North High Street, Worthington. There will be 3 excellent presenters as well as Bishop Brennan offering Mass that morning. See the bulletin board for registration information.
