Solemnity of Christ the King Deacon Wayne’s Wonderings

John 18:33b–37 Jesus answered (Pilate), “You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.” The exchange between Jesus and Pilate makes it clear that the execution of Jesus is a consequence of the anger and hate of the Jewish leaders of that time who were called out for their corruption of Gods’ truth. This conflict is described in terms of the ‘truth’ that he has brought from his Father: He has urged his people to belong to their true call-ing in the designs of God, to be ‘a light to the nations’, showing the world the life and joy of a people living ac-cording to the truth that can be learned from his Father. John’s gospel portrays Jesus as reigning on the Cross, bringing forth his Kingdom. So what kind of King is found nailed to a cross for his throne, wearing a weave of thorns for his crown, and a spear in his side for his scepter? -A King who has overcome sin and death out of obe-dience for the Father, out of love humankind, the Fa-thers creation. -A King who teaches us that by tenderly holding our sufferings and ridicule we too can be transformed. Just as He was transformed from His passion and death to the Resurrection. Notice, He never came back looking for retribution on those who committed those atrocities to Him. When we find ourselves in those difficult situations, we have two choices; we can become angry and hate-ful and cast those sufferings onto someone or some-thing else, as the chief priests and elders did to Jesus, or we can hold them as our King did and be trans-formed into peace, compassion, and love. This weeks challenge: Choose to belong to His truth! Listen to His voice. Be transformed. In Gods Mercy (IGM)

No Religious Education classes will be held on November 25.

Classes resume Dec 2.

At some point, Sagelink Credit Union now called PFCU – Portland Federal Credit Union (our banking institution) will be requiring that all checks be made out to our new name. Please keep this in mind when writing out your donation checks. Thank you so much. If you have any ques-tions, please contact Paul Williamson at the office at 1-855-288-6704 Ext 7001
