~Parish Mission Statement~
We are the Family of St. Maurice at Resurrection Parish joined together
sacramentally in Jesus Christ, sharing our skills and abilities across the world to
nourish all human hungers. We continually renew our energies by celebrating
around the Table of the Lord and grow to be more effective ministers
in the name of Jesus. Amen.
AS GOOD A WITNESS AS I WANT TO BE
"With power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the
Lord Jesus." —Acts 4:33
Our secular humanistic society hardly notices when we Christians
proclaim that Jesus is risen from the dead. Our message of the
Resurrection is effortlessly ignored and often militantly denied and
ridiculed. We clearly lack power as witnesses for the risen Lord.
The Holy Spirit, Who is Power (Lk 24:49; Acts 1:8), will give us the power
that we lack. All we need do is obey Him (Acts 5:32). Traditionally, the
Holy Spirit has given us power by giving communal and economic
commands. The Spirit commands us to devote ourselves to the
communal life (Acts 2:42) and to accept His grace to be of one mind
and heart (Acts 4:32). He commands many of us to hold things in
common (Acts 4:32; 2:44). He commands not a few of us to
liquidate our property and to give the proceeds to the Church (Acts
4:34ff). How much do you believe in the risen Christ? How powerful do
you want to be as His witness?
Maximum power is available to you. Obey the Spirit and especially His
communal and economic commands.
Prayer: Father, I repent of making excuses for my powerlessness. May I
trust You and be strengthened with every power, in accord with His
glorious might (see Col 1:11).
Promise: " 'Peace be with you,' [Jesus]
said again. 'As the
Father has sent Me, so I send you.' Then
He breathed on them and said: 'Receive
the Holy Spirit.' " —Jn 20:21-22
Praise: All praise and honor to you,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Thank You for
pouring down Your many graces on us.

Mass Facts
The Mass Began with Readings from the Hebrew Scrip-
tures (now called the Old Testament) and then other
readings from the letters of Paul or the other apostles.
The bishop, or presiding priest, would comment on the
readings, applying the message of the readings to
Christian life. This was called the homily. Bread, wine
and water were brought in, and the bishop or presiding
priest prayed a Prayer of Thanksgiving, asking God to
change the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of
Christ. People came to Communion standing, with
hands outstretched, and received the Sacred Host in
their hands, and then drank from the chalice. At the
end of the Mass, another prayer was prayed, and the
congregation was dismissed.
The Structure of the Mass (Liturgy) has 4 parts The Introductory Rites (Penitential Rite and Opening
Prayer) Liturgy of the Word (Biblical Readings, Homily,
Creed and Intersessions) Liturgy of the Eucharist (Preparation, Eucharistic
Prayer and Communion)

Join us at for the Divine Mercy Chaplet
3:00pm in the Church
April 8, 2018
Why did Pope John II so strongly recommend that we pay heed to the Divine Mercy message and
devotion – even the Image and the Chaplet -- given to us through St. Faustina ? Clearly, he does so because he sees
all this as more than just a collection of “private revelations”; rather, he sees them as prophetic revelations, in other words revelations given to us by God to proclaim the heart of the Gospel – the merciful love of God shining
through the death, burial and resurrection of his Son – in a way especially suited to meet the needs of our era. The
liturgy for the Easter Octave, therefore, and for the Octave Sunday itself, is not something that needs to be
“protected” or “sealed off” from the alien influence of the “private revelations” of a Polish nun. On the contrary, the celebration of Mercy Sunday should be open to all the en-hancement and amplification of the message of merciful love which prudent use of her devotions can bring to it.
