The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston has taken precautions to limit the potential spread of illness and

viruses. Daniel Cardinal DiNardo has requested that until further notice, we will suspend the receiving of the

Precious Blood from the Chalice. Also, the faithful are reminded that persons who are ill are under no obligation

to be present for Sunday Mass. Furthermore, people should be reminded to be respectful that some may be uncomfortable with physical contact during times of the Mass such as the Lord’s Prayer or the Sign of Peace.

Ministers of Holy Communion should wash their hands just prior to Mass and exercise normal precautions at the Sunday Liturgy. Though the Cardinal is not demanding it, it may be helpful, for the time being, for persons to receive

Holy Communion in the hand and not on the tongue.

The Archdiocesan Youth Conference (AYC) gathers over 2,500 participants - both youth and adults - from all over the local Church. EFF & Youth Ministry Lenten Service Project The Elementary Faith Formation & Youth Ministry students are collecting dog & cat supplies for the Fort Bend Paws

Organization as a Lenten Service Project . If you are able to donate items such as dog or cat food, toys, pads, small

blankets, laundry detergent, etc. (any brand for these items will be accepted). Boxes will be in the back of either

church for your donations.

Each year we provide $200 Scholar-ships to those seniors who have met the requirements of Youth Ministry attendance for the last two years. This year we have 27 recipients (24 from St. Michael’s and 3 from Sts. Cyril & Meth-

NOTICE Beware of a popular scam! Fr. Marty would like to inform everyone that there have been peo-

ple sending out fake emails and texts saying that he is request-ing them to buy gift cards for him or to text him back because he will be in meetings and cannot take calls. Father Marty or the Church would never ask parishioners to purchase gifts cards for him. Also, getting a text from Father with no explanation and asking you to respond to his text is also a scam! If you look closely at the email or text message, you will see that this is not the correct email address or phone number for him. We hear about these types of scams all the time. They are preying on Christians to appeal to their generous nature and desire to help their pastor. Please do not respond at all to these emails or texts. Annual Turkey Dinner Sts. Cyril & Methodius Altar Society in Damon is having their an-nual Turkey & Dressing Dinner on Sunday, March 15th in the Parish Hall. Serving of turkey, dressing and all the trimmings will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Plates are $10 each. They will also have pastries for sale. The KJZT Society #85 will have a Raffle and the KJZT Juniors will have a Craft Sale. Come on out and enjoy some good food and good company. Central Emergency Medical Service (400 N. 13th St., West Co-lumbia, TX 77486) will be serving Chicken Fried Steak Dinners (to go only) on Sunday, March 22nd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plates are $12 each. Anyone wishing to learn how to prepare for Holy Week, please call Eileen or Kathleen to volunteer

As a parish, we are grateful to those parishioners who give of their time serving in a ministry during Mass. In recent months we have experienced a significant amount of liturgical minister no-shows. The ministry schedule is published in the bulletin the weekend prior to the first weekend of the next month. Be sure to notify the parish office at (979) 742-3383 of any known scheduling issues, such as vacations, business, etc. that would make you unavailable on a certain day or time period for the coming month, so the schedule may be prepared appropriately. Please report NO LATER than 15 minutes prior to the Mass start time. This will reduce the turmoil that arises in trying to find a replacement in such a very short notice. It is your responsibility to attempt to find a replacement when you are scheduled but cannot serve. A list of all the ministers and their phone numbers can be found in the Priest’s Sacristy. You can use this list to help find a replacement. If you are not assigned to help at Mass that day and would like to assist if needed, please check in before Mass begins. Appearance is important in the Church. We encourage you to always dress like you have come to do something important, that is, to worship God. That way if you need to fill in as a minister, you will be properly dressed. Thanks for doing what you are doing. It is a great service to the parish and all of the effort you make is deeply appreciated.
