The St. Joseph Candle burns in memory of Thomas King
Today as we start a new year and make commitments to improve our way of life through New Year's resolutions, we need to reflect on what St. Paul reminds us of in today's Reading. God's love for us is so great and everlasting that He sent his Son to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. In doing so Jesus opens a pathway for us to choose to be adopted children of God. We have the opportunity to be heirs. All of us who have been baptized have been given this gift. Yet many of us have not allowed ourselves to fully open up and truly experience this awesome gift. St. Paul tells us that "God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts". Yet our hearts need to be open to receive the Holy Spirit. So why don’t we make a New Year's Resolution today to allow ourselves to open the gift God has given us and allow ourselves to share in the richness of God's love for his Son, Jesus, through the help of the Holy Spirit. One of the best ways to do this is through Mary, the Holy Mother of God. We can follow her example by receiving Jesus and allowing Him to grow in us. Then as Jesus grows in us, we let others experience Him as we bring Him into the world. All of this is available to us by first being fully open to Jesus through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is our way to say yes as Mary did. By being fully open to experiencing the Holy Spirit through our Baptism and Confirmation, we can share in Mary's words "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord my Spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant." As we receive Jesus in the Eucharist grace will grow in us so we can become more like Christ. Then as we go out into the world others can experience the love of Christ through us. The more this love flows through us the more we experience being heirs. So let us make this year a year like no other by continuing to grow in our relationship with Jesus by following Mary, the Holy Mother of God. God Bless You, Deacon Lou Parish Office Hours - for the New Year’s Holiday

BAPTISM
If you have questions about having your child
Baptized at St. Patrick’s call the Office at

Adoration begins
each Monday immediately

Benediction 6:00PM
During each of the past two years we have had a
spiritual theme for our parish that guided many of our celebrations. In 2015, we celebrated our
100th Anniversary and reflected on the many blessings of our parish. In 2016 Pope Francis
guided us through a Jubilee Year of Mercy.
In this upcoming year we will celebrate that we
have been Called to be a Community of Saints.
The year will open with a two-day Mission
Sunday and Monday, January 22 - 23, 2017 directed by Dr. John Wood.
Dr. Wood is the author of Ordinary Lives, Extraordinary Mission; Choosing the Saint inside.
He will be accompanied by singer/songwriter & ministry leader Rachel Ann.
Each month, parishioners will receive prayer cards of two different Saints, giving a brief description of their lives and a prayer to that particular Saint.
The first grade students of St. Patrick School will share with us the stories of some of the Saints
at each of the Masses on Sunday, January 29th.
St. Patrick Parish,
with MACS Respect Life
(the Pro-Life committee from
Immaculata University)
will travel to March For
Life in Washington DC on
Friday, January 27, 2017.
The group will attend the
9:00AM Mass at
St. Patrick’s
then board the bus &
travel directly to Union
Station to participate as
witnesses for Life.
The bus will return
to the parish
at approximately 7:00PM

"A new year is unfolding—like a blossom with petals curled tightly concealing the beauty within.
Lord, let this year be filled with the things that are truly good—with the comfort of warmth in our
relationships, with the generosity to help those who need our help and the humility and openness to
accept help from others.
As we make our resolutions for the year ahead, let us go forward with great hope that all things can be
possible—with Your help and guidance."
Thank You!!!!
Our Christmas celebrations have been beautiful and truly
an experience of God’s presence among us. It is im-
portant that we offer our thanks to them, in particular we
thank:
• Katey Engel and the choirs for their beautiful music
• the ushers for helping us to keep a sense of reverence
with so many visiting our church
• the altar servers, lectors and Extraordinary Ministers
for their faithfulness
• the Art and Environment Committee who never fail to
wow us, capturing the beauty of our church.
• the members of the Outreach Committee for
assisting us to provide for those less fortunate
