YOUTH MINISTRY

FAITH FORMATION

WORK & PRAY Twice per month, a group gathers to knit/crochet and pray for parishioners who are sick. You're welcome to join in, contact the parish office. If you are cleaning cupboards and have extra yarn, consider donating to the group. (Sept 13, 9-10:30am)

We all want a vibrant parish and to see children and teens alive with their faith… for that to happen WE NEED SOMEONE to

choose to step forward in faith to lead children to know and love God.

First - Eighth Grade Leaders Needed: We need people who love Jesus to help lead children into a relationship with Jesus in our "Awaken" (1st - 5th grade) or "Edge" (6th - 8th grade) programs! Lessons and training are provided for you and you'll work with a team. This is a great way to grow in love for Jesus, His Church and the AMAZING children of our parish! Additionally, we are always looking for volunteers to help organize and assemble supplies for each class. Contact Karen at 262-968-2276 or [email protected] to learn more or sign-up to help!

HS Leaders Needed Are you passionate about Jesus Christ and our Catholic faith? Do you want our young people to find hope in our Church? Then, you are qualified to be a high school small group leader. We need faithful mentors to lead or co-lead a group of amaz-ing young men or women. Lessons are video-based so you don't have to "teach," just lead discussion, listen, learn and pray with our teens. It's not as scary as it sounds and I guarantee that you will love the teens, our Church, and Jesus Christ even more through this opportunity! Contact Amy with questions, to preview the program, or sign up: 262-402-8229 or email [email protected].

St. Paul and St. Bruno sponsor a Dynamic Men’s Group each year. This program is designed to help you be a better spiritual leader in your church, community, and above all, your family. Become a better-formed Catholic! You need this program.

St. Paul’s program runs on Wednesdays starting Sept 7th, at 6am and 7pm for about an hour. Contact Tim Weske for more information, [email protected] or 262-968-9170.

St. Bruno’s program runs on Thursday mornings, starting Sept 8th from 5:30-7am. Contact Jerry Strand for more information, [email protected] or 262-965-3436.

You are invited to attend either program or both. Whatever works in your schedule.

DYNAMIC MEN’S GROUP

St. Paul’s & St. Bruno’s Joint Faith Formation Committee is looking for a few good people to join the committee! Be an advocate for programs and education of the people in our parish community, for the entire life span. The committee is asking a 1 year commitment, meeting the first Monday of the month.

Contact Jean Warren, [email protected] for details.

HUMAN CONCERNS

School Supply Collection Reformation Lutheran has served approximately 60 young people through their summer S.A.L.T. (serving and learning together) program. They've participated in the community garden, service opportunities, job shadowing, and educational experiences. Our Human Concerns outreach has provided backpacks for these students, but we need your help filling them. Please bring school supplies to the baskets in the Gathering Space and give these young people a strong start to their school year!

Coming Up: “Fill the Bassinet” baby collection in September. Do your rummaging now. Look for sizes 0-3 or 3-6 months clothing, onesies, and sleepers. Especially needed are GIRLS sleepers and onesies. In conjunction with the Corporal Works of Mercy for September: Clothe the Naked.

Donations for our Peru Ministry There is a basket in the coat room off the Gathering Space for donations of eyeglasses (readers and useable prescription glasses). You can also leave toothbrushes in the basket. It will be a while before these donations are shipped or taken to Peru, so we are not collecting toothpaste at this time.

Loaves and Fishes

Thank you St. Paul Parishioners for your generous donations when fellow parishioners are collecting in the Gathering Space each month. The money is used to support the St. Ben's Community Meal prepared each month on site, to buy groceries for the homeless shelter, for women and children at Casa Maria House of Hospitality, and to stock detergent on the shelves of the KM Food Pantry.

Over time, there is a bit more in the account than is required for our monthly outreach. Additional donations have been made to area programs that feed the hungry including: Capuchin Community Services (St. Ben's Meal and House of Peace Emergency Food Pantry), Mukwonago Food Pantry, Open Door Cafe at the cathedral, Waukesha Food Pantry, and KM Food Pantry.

Grateful agencies say: Please know how very happy and blessed our families feel because of your concern and help. When people are able to access a resource like the Food Pantry, they are incredibly grateful for the services we deliver with the utmost dignity. Sometimes it doesn't seem like a few dollars could make much of a difference in the community, but it means the world to those who cannot afford to feed their families. Many people think colder weather is our busier time; families actually go through their food budget more quickly when children are home all day.

Does your child need to be Baptized? Please remember that all parents must attend a preparation class before their child can be baptized. If you need to attend a baptism class or need information regarding baptism, please call 968-3865 or email Mary Kral, [email protected]

Testimonial: A young couple recently completed Baptism Preparation in anticipation of having their newborn daughter baptized during an upcoming mass. We talked about the significance of the sacrament of Baptism and what it means for their baby to join the parish faith community and discussed the responsibility they face as parents to raise their child in the Catholic faith. We talked about their memories of being raised Catholic and what characteristics of their own faith lives they'd want to share with their daughter. Many times during the conversation, they talked about the importance of faith and family and how through a number of difficult events in their lives, they'd been able to cling to their faith in the hard times. They acknowledged the role that their families played in creating that environment. They wanted Baptism and entrance into our faith community for their child so she has something to cling to in her life. Over and over it came back to faith and family.

May God bless all new parents as they journey forward in raising their children in the faith and may we continue to be supportive and welcoming as a parish family.

Many thanks to Rhoda and John Forester along with their daughters families for organizing, preparing and serving the parish breakfasts for the past 8 years!

These Sunday morning breakfasts were valuable in encouraging parish members to gather to share a meal and to create a warmer and closer community at St. Paul’s. Blessings to the Forester family for establishing this tradition at our parish!

The Knights of Columbus, along with others, hope to continue this special tradition. Their first parish breakfast will be September 25th, after 8:30 Mass. Not only will there be a delicious breakfast and community fellowship but there will be a brief lecture each time. Our first presenter will be Kelly Weske, who will discuss her trips to Kilimanjaro. Come join us!

Mt. Meru Coffee Project

The Mt. Meru Coffee Project has been part of the St. Paul Human Concerns for a number of years. This coffee helps to preserve the human dignity of the people who work to supply this product. This coffee is always available on the coffee cart ($10)in the gathering space and at Donut or Breakfast

Sundays. It is a self serve process; just fill out a purchase or order blank, place in box with money and take your coffee. We now have K-cups and flavored coffee available. Flavors include French Vanilla, Hazelnut, Butter Pecan, and Chocolate Raspberry. Enjoy!

You will be inspired by Barbara Heil's testimony of conversion and ministry. She was raised in an un-churched family, but fell in love with Jesus Christ as a student. Crediting the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Barbara converted from the Pentecostal faith to Catholicism. Her faith journey led her to attend the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Catechetical Institute directed by Jeff Cavins. While reading the first page of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Barbara knew in her heart that she had come home. Her life's calling is to guide others in pursuit of an intimate relationship with the Lord. You are invited to hear her awesome story; bring your friends and family!
