Liturgy and Worship Liturgia y el Culto

Our Lady Star of the Sea Praesidium (St. Paul the Apostle Church’s Legion of Mary) invites all its Active Members and Auxiliary Members to the Legion of Mary’s Annual Mass and Breakfast on November 1, 2014 (All Saints Day).

We’ll attend the 8:30 AM daily Mass followed by prayer of the Legion of Mary Tessera. Then, breakfast in Rooms 10/11.

The Founder of the Legion of Mary, the Servant of God Frank Duff, established the Legion of Mary in Dublin, on September 7, 1921. The Legion of Mary is a movement of prayer, Christian care and Marian spirituality. The movement spread worldwide and has enriched the Church in many parts of the world. The anniversary of Frank Duff’s death is November 7. Let us remember Frank Duff and all our deceased Active and Auxiliary Legion Members on this very special day.

Praise to God! St. Paul the Apostle Parish celebrates nine years of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration, October 11 and 12 Volunteers will be on hand after Masses in the Narthex to answer questions and accept sign-ups for Adoration hours. We invite you this week to prayerfully consider the words of Blessed Pope John Paul II who proclaimed, "The best, the surest, and the most effective way of establishing everlasting peace on the face of the earth is through the great power of Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament." (Dec. 8, 1982 at St. Peter's)

Might you have time for a weekly hour?

Thank you St. Paul parishioners for your love and faithfulness to our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament!! Your prayers sustain our parish life and are hope for the world.

Divorce Group Begins November 10

We are truly divorced only when we let go of our marriage, mourn our loss, and adjust ourselves to our new life. At St. Paul, our Divorce Care Group exists to help one another do just that. This is a Catholic peer-ministry support group that addresses the stress, anger, blame and guilt of divorce and leads participants toward forgiveness, happiness and growth. The 14-session program begins Monday, November 10 and meets weekly into February. Cost is $30; financial assistance is available. Free childcare is provided when reservations are made in advance. The program will be facilitated by Laura Hicks, LMFT with the assistance of others who have already completed the program. Contact Heidi if you are interested in participating: [email protected] or 281.333.3891.

Gabriel Project has Needs Our Gabriel Project ministry helps any expectant mom who prepare for the arrival of her baby. Current critical needs include newborn and size 1 diapers; clothing for newborns; diaper rash ointment; baby oil and baby powder, any other layette-type items. Monetary donations are always welcome to help fund the purchase of large items we cannot store for lack of space.

Learn about Human Trafficking in Houston

Slavery doesn’t occur just in history books; it’s right here in our own community. There are more people enslaved today than at any point in history, and Houston is at the epicenter. Elijah Rising is a local organization working to end human trafficking through prayer, awareness, and intervention. As part of our Respect Life Month, representatives from Elijah Rising are presenting a human trafficking awareness night at St. Paul on Monday, October 13, from 7-8:30 PM in the church.

Married Couples: Teams of Our Lady Coming to St. Paul!

Teams of our Lady is an international Catholic movement focused on married spirituality, which brings together Christian couples united by the Sacrament of Marriage, and who wish—together—to deepen the graces of their sacrament. If your goal as a couple is to grow closer together in love and holiness, Teams of our Lady will show you how to do it. Make plans to attend the Information Night scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, from 7-8:30 PM in Founders Hall. Free babysitting will be provided if you contact Heidi Clark to reserve your spot: 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected].

Divine Mercy Spiritual Growth Group Seeks New Members

St. Paul’s Divine Mercy Cenacle group meets weekly for prayer, discussion of Scripture, study of the catechism, and reading the works of St. Maria Faustina. Discussion questions help lead the members to a fuller understanding of Jesus’ teachings. Meetings are Friday evenings at 7 PM in Room 1. Contact Virginia at [email protected] for more info. All are welcome.

What’s New at Silver Linings? Silver Linings, St. Paul’s 55 and over group, invites new members, men, women and couples, to attend their monthly meetings every 2nd Monday, at 12:30 PM in Room 10.
