GOOD NEWS REFLECTION: GOD'S ECONOMICS

Poverty, as exampled by many Saints, is not the only path of holiness. This Sunday's Gospel reading tells us how a person can be affluent and holy at the same time -- as exampled by other Saints. If we recognize that our possessions are gifts from God that are meant to enhance his kingdom, we are holy. But if we cling to money and material wealth as if they are meant only for our own benefit, we've divided ourselves from God, because God's Word emphasizes the importance of distributing to others a generous portion of everything we've received. When acquiring wealth is a higher priority than distributing what we already have, God is not our master. This is true not only with material goods, but with everything else that is good, too. We are all richly blessed one way or another: How readily to do use your riches for the benefit of others? The "dishonest wealth" of which Jesus speaks is anything that "belongs to another". When we use other people's money (for example, taking out a loan from the bank) to our own advantage, we are not being trustworthy stewards unless it also glorifies the kingdom of God (for example, a bank loan for a house mortgage is good because it serves the family, but only as long as it doesn't require so much income that a bigger house means little time for the children.) Likewise, if we misuse time by catering to selfish desires at the expense of those who need our attention, we are untrustworthy in the kingdom of God. Jesus wants to bless people through you. He has called you to be a distributor of his gifts. If we ignore this primary principle of God's economy, Jesus says, "Who will give you what is yours?" What is ours, if we're trustworthy enough to be good stewards, are riches that will remain with us for all of eternity: the wealth of the spirit, the approval and praise of God, the fullness of love, etc. To be holy with affluence, we have to first be trustworthy with the love that belongs to others -- the love that God feels for them. Our trust-ability is found in the sharing of our temporal (earthly) goods as well as eternal goods (faith, wisdom, hope, etc.). What are you reluctant to share? What do you fear will happen if you surrender it to God for his use and his purposes? What do you need to do with this fear so that you can become a good steward of God's riches? Name any material possession that seems to be used only for worldly or selfish purposes. Can it be converted into a gift for others and used for the glory of God? REFLEXIÓN DE LAS BUENAS NUEVAS: LA ECONOMÍA DE DIOS

La pobreza, como la muestran muchos Santos, no es el único camino de la santidad. La lectura del Evangelio de este domingo nos dice cómo una persona puede ser acomodada y santa al mismo tiempo - como lo muestran otros Santos. Si reconocemos que nuestras posesiones son regalos de Dios que están destinados a mejorar su reino, somos santos. Pero si nos aferramos al dinero y a la riqueza material como si estuvieran destinados sólo para nuestro propio beneficio, nos hemos apartado de Dios porque la Palabra de Dios hace hincapié en la importancia de distribuir a los demás una generosa porción de todo lo que hemos recibido. Cuando la adquisición de la riqueza es una prioridad más alta que la distribución de lo que ya tenemos, Dios no es nuestro maestro. Esto es cierto no sólo con los bienes materiales, sino con todo lo que es bueno, también. Todos estamos ricamente bendecidos de una u otra manera: ¿Qué tan dispuesto estás para hacer uso de tus riquezas en beneficio de los demás? La "riqueza deshonesta" de la que habla Jesús es cualquier cosa que "pertenezca a otro". Cuando usamos el dinero de otras personas (por ejemplo, tomar un préstamo del banco) para nuestro propio beneficio, no estamos siendo administradores confiables a menos que también glorifique al reino de Dios (por ejemplo, un préstamo bancario para una hipoteca de la casa es bueno porque sirve a la familia, pero sólo en la medida que no requiera de tantos ingresos por una casa más grande que signifique menos tiempo para los niños.) Del mismo modo, si usamos mal el tiempo atendiendo los deseos egoístas a expensas de aquellos que necesitan nuestra atención, no somos confiables en el Reino de Dios. Jesús quiere bendecir a la gente a través de ti. Te ha llamado a ser

distribuidor de sus dones. Si ignoramos este principio fundamental de la economía de Dios, Jesús dice: "¿Quién te dará lo que es tuyo?" Lo que es nuestro, si somos lo suficientemente confiables para ser buenos administradores, son riquezas que permanecerán con nosotros por toda la eternidad: la riqueza del espíritu, la aprobación y alabanza de Dios, la plenitud del amor, etc. Para ser santo con la riqueza, primero debemos ser dignos de confianza con el amor que pertenece a otros - el amor que Dios siente por ellos. Nuestra capacidad-confianza se encuentra en la puesta en común de nuestros bienes temporales (terrenales), así como los bienes eternos (fe, sabiduría, esperanza, etc.). ¿Qué eres reacio a compartir? ¿Qué temes que sucederá si lo entregas a Dios para su uso y sus propósitos? ¿Qué debes hacer con este miedo para que puedas llegar a ser un buen administrador de las riquezas de Dios? Classes have started for all grades. There will be registration until September 30th. We are looking for new volunteers to help teach religion. God calls us all to witness our faith to others, but we cannot do this if we only keep it to ourselves. We need to share what we believe with others. Our children need us. RCIA PROGRAMS (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS)

Is the Church’s way to welcome and bring adults over 18 years old into full membership in the Church. This Program for adults is for those who may never have been baptized; those who were baptized into another faith tradition; those who have been baptized, but never received the sacraments of First Communion and/or Confirmation. The English RCIA Program meets once a week on Wednesday evenings from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. The Spanish RCIA Program meets once a week on Sunday mornings from 11:15AM to 12:30PM. Both Programs meet in the Library located in the school building. The Programs begin in September and Continue until the Easter Vigil on April 11, 2020. There is no charge for these Programs. Perhaps you know a family member, or friend, who may wish to participate in our Parish RCIA Programs. Why not tell them and invite them to participate! PROGRAMAS DE RICA (RITO DE INICIACIÓN CRISTIANA PARA ADULTOS)

Esta es la manera en que la Iglesia da la bienvenida y conduce a las personas adultas, de 18 años en adelante, a una completa membresía en la Iglesia. Este programa para adultos es para aquellos que nunca han sido bautizados en otra tradición de Fe; aquellos que han sido bautizados, pero nunca recibieron los Sacramentos de Primera Comunión y/o Confirmación. el Programa RICA en Ingles se reúne una vez por semana los miércoles en la noche, de 7:00 a 9:00PM. El Programa RICA en español se reúne una vez por semana, los domingos en la mañana desde las 11:15AM, hasta las 12:30PM. Ambos Programas se reúnen en la biblioteca de la escuela. Los Programas comienza en septiembre y continúan hasta la Vigilia Pascual el 11 de abril del 2020. No hay costo para participar de estos programas. Quizás usted conoce
