Dear Friends,

In a way, Easter Time for the Church is like springtime for the world, and for those of us who live in the northern hemisphere, it is wonderful that they coincide. The world around us celebrates new life: trees and plants are finally budding and blooming, animals have come out of hibernation, the sun is out longer and the evening offers some additional time for sports and activities. As Christians, we also celebrate new life: Jesus is risen, the scripture readings recount the infancy of the early church, we have new life in the Lord in our baptism. As we continue to celebrate this Easter Season, let us rejoice in the new life that surrounds us and celebrate the resurrection which is our promise in Christ!

Thank you to all who participated in our Jubilee events last weekend. Dana Catherine offered a wonderful concert and talk to our young people and Thomas Smith presented two very powerful talks on discipleship and the Eucharist. I think we will have to bring Thomas back to our parish, for as a convert from Mormonism, he speaks of our Catholic treasures in a way that can re-engage his listeners. So many wonderful things have been offered during this special year of celebration and I am thrilled for those who have benefited from them!

Yesterday (Saturday) and today at the 11 AM Mass our young members will receive or have received their First Holy Communion. What a special time in their lives and in the life of our parish family! Please pray for them as they encounter Jesus in Holy Communion and walk the journey closely in communion with Him!

Next Sunday at the 11AM Mass we will have our annual Healing Mass. After the homily, those who have registered with the parish office, will receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Anyone who is ill, advanced in age, preparing for surgery, or incapacitated in any way may receive this sacrament. I encourage as many people as possible who are ill and suffering to receive this healing and comforting encounter with Jesus. Please call the parish office or fill out the form in the bulletin to register. The purpose of registration is that the parish is required to record for its records those who have been anointed in this way. This report is a component of the annual Pastoral Report we submit to the archbishop.

Speaking of healing, please remember me in your prayers on Monday. I am having outpatient surgery at Abington Surgery Center. I hope to heal quickly and be back on my feet very soon. I am grateful to Father Biedrzycki who will cover some of the daily activities of the parish until I am sufficiently healed to resume my daily schedule.

May Saint Robert Bellarmine continue to inspire us to work for the greater glory of God!

With prayers,

of E

aster Fifth Sunday

FROM THE DESK OF MRS. JASTER

APPLE OF MY EYE: Congratulations to the latest “Apple of My Eye” winners of the school year: Tim Clift, Maggie Dixon, Michelle Graham Luke Hoffman and Ben Bargerhuff.

THANK YOU, MRS. EWALD!: Today, we celebrate Mrs. Ewald! Who can really thank her for all that she does for all of us each day? She is an inspiration to all of us as she handles a million and one tasks each day all while seeming unflappable! “No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another. Thank you.” » Joseph Addison Mrs. Ewald, YOU are cherished! DRESS DOWN DAY: We will sponsor a Dress Down Day on Monday to support those working to combat abuse. Anyone bringing in a dollar donation may dress down. The money collected will be sent to “A Woman’s Place”. GENTLY LOVED BOOKS: From now until April 30th, Mairead McDermott in our eighth grade will be collecting gently loved children’s books for “Cops N Kids”. If you have any books you would like to donate to this worthy cause, please send them in to school. JUST A THOUGHT: I found the following thought on Twitter recently and found its message a powerful one:

Attract what you expect, Reflect what you desire,

Become what you respect, Mirror what you admire!

I hope that we can all Attract, Reflect, Become, and Mirror actions worthy of our Respect!

Annual Parish May Procession — May 9, 2018 @ 7:00 PM — Bring Your Rosary!

Our homilist will be Father Thomas O’ Donald, Parochial Vicar, St. Bede the Venerable Parish, Holland.

One of the most beloved Catholic devotions is a May Procession to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The ceremony is designed to give praise and thanks to Almighty God and his Son, Jesus Christ through the intercession

of our Blessed Mother. The ceremony and procession will be no more than one hour.

PLEASE NOTE: The Confirmation and First Communion classes are invited to join us and it would add so much to our

celebration if these groups would wear their outfits and robes which designate them as special recipients of God’s

grace this year.
