Your Ongoing Giving is Deeply Appreciated!

Mass Intentions For the week of April 26th, 2020

Faith in the time of coronavirus

Please visit our parish website for

daily mass each day at 1pm: https://ststephensmidland.com

Know you are in our prayers during these concerning and challenging

times.

Prayer for Someone Suffering with the Coronavirus You shall not fear the terror of the night

nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that roams in darkness,

nor the plague that ravages at noon. Ps 91:5-6

Merciful God, hear our fervent prayer for all who suffer from the coronavirus.

May those who are infected receive the proper treatment and the comfort of your healing presence.

May their caregivers, families and neighbors be shielded from the onslaught of the virus.

Give solace to those who grieve the loss of loved ones. Protect and guide those who strive to find a cure,

that their work may conquer the disease and restore communities to wholeness and health.

Help us to rise above fear. We ask all this through the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes,

and in the name of your Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Dear Lord, help our young people to find faith in the midst of the chaos.

Give them the desire and ability to see you, hear you,

talk to you, and give thanks to you.

We pray that they will draw nearer and nearer to you

all their lives. Amen.

We invite everyone to Pray the Rosary from your home every Monday at 7:30pm. With the COVID-19 going on we are supposed to be practicing social distancing but that doesn't mean you can’t continue to Pray the Rosary where ever you are.

Prayer for our Youth

We offer to you, Loving God, the gifts and needs of youth.

Bless them with your guiding grace as they face the challenges and

opportunities in their lives. Touch their hearts with the gentleness

of your love, that they may know they are valued and valuable beings.

Send your spirit of hope to their lives, that they may believe in themselves and know they are needed in this world.

Grace them with the gift of joy that they may celebrate life through laughter and tears alike.

Guide us, as we continue to grow in appreciation of the many gifts of young people, in the ministry opportunities we offer to them, in the journey of faith we walk with them, in our shared mission as a community called to discipleship in the world.

We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen

Prayer for Trust and Confidence in God’s Mercy “O Lord, we ask for a boundless confidence and trust in Your divine mercy, and

the courage to accept the crosses and sufferings which bring immense goodness to our souls and that of Your Church. Help us to love You with a pure and contrite heart, and to humble ourselves beneath Your cross, as we climb the mountain of holiness, carrying our cross that leads to heavenly glory. May we receive You with great faith and love in Holy Communion, and allow You to

act in us as You desire for your greater glory. O Jesus, most adorable Heart and eternal fountain of Divine Love, may our prayer find favor before the Divine

Majesty of Your heavenly Father AMEN”

“Lord, You invite all who are burdened to come to you. Allow Your healing Hand to heal me. Touch my soul with Your compassion for others; touch my heart with Your courage and infinite

Helping Hands of

Midland

1301 Brinson Lane

(432) 520-8900

In the four weeks since we received our first matching grant, Helping Hands has spent over

$204,000 to keep 182 families in their homes. And we fear then need is just beginning. Those who have lost their jobs are still having a very difficult time getting through either by

phone or online to apply for unemployment benefits. The stimulus checks are offering some relief, however when one is looking at rent, utilities, food, possible car payment etc. that

money goes very quickly. And while the governor forbade evictions through the month of April, May 1 is this week. We have heard reports from those we have helped that landlords are already putting signs on doors threatening eviction if all rent is not brought current on

May 1. On top of the layoffs attributed to COVID-19 we are now seeing layoffs from the oilfield.

Contrary to popular belief, not all of these people were making $30+/hr. Many of them made far less and are not much better off than the restaurant worker.

Times are hard and getting harder. On a positive note, our second $100,000 match has been met and we are just waiting on that check, which we have been assured is on the

way. In the meantime, we will continue to help as many people stay in their homes as we can until there is nothing left to give. In the meantime, all we can do is pray that money continues to come in and that we can keep as many people as possible in their homes.

SPECAL THANKS to Chevron for their recent donation of food that we distributed to those people who we helped with rent, and to Albertsons (Midland Dr. and Wadley) for their

continued donations of breads and pastries that we are also sharing with those who we are helping. Thank you so much for your generosity!

www.helpinghandsmidland.com

Because we feel it is important that you know how and where your donations to Helping Hands are spent, here is what was done in the past week: Rent 40 Families $ 58,750.51 TOTAL $ 58,750.51
