Stand and Deliver I often think of Qatar and thank Allah for

blessing me and my family with the oppor-

tunities that this wonderful country has to

offer its citizens, its visitors and residents.

I think of how fortunate we are as a nation

and as a united people, I think of everyday

blessings that some people tend to take for

granted, things such as health, education,

safety and security and wonder what would

my life be like if I were born elsewhere

where life was not so blessed?. I see so

much suffering through the media in so

many parts of the world and I thank Allah

for this wonderful country that fills me with

enthusiasm to serve it to the best of my

ability, to stand and deliver, to play my part

and live up to my country's expectations of

me. I would like to ask all who agree with

me and all who share these feelings of ap-

preciation to strive to be the best that they

can be, to work harder at self improvement,

at skill development, at knowledge en-

hancement and acquisition. Working hard

is not always enough to achieve success,

working smart is more effective and yields

better results. This is why we are currently

reviewing and re-orienting our strategy and

operational plans and going through a mas-

sive change management programme and

we stand little chance of success without

the human capital needed for the execution

of our objectives. I would like to see more

of you championing our causes, rising up to

the challenge, living up to the expectations,

each and everyone of you has an impact in

your perspective areas of the business, each

of you has a role to play in our success and

we believe that you will

stand up and deliver.

The President signs the Ashghal strategy with theme teams. Mr. Mawlawi asks all stakeholders to show

absolute commitment to strategy execution.

What is a Strategy? Strategy is a method

or plan chosen to

bring about a desired

future, such as

achievement of a

goal or solution to a

problem.

As many of you are aware and

were involved in the workshops,

discussions, team meetings and

exercises held over the past few

months, we

have now suc-

cessfully formu-

lated our new re

-oriented strate-

gy, which will

work as a clear

and precise road

map for plan-

ning, development and execu-

tion for many of our core pro-

jects and change programmes.

We are now going through a

truly comprehensive transfor-

mation process which will take

us to greater heights and

achievements of unparalleled

standards. The idea of a fluid,

flexible and adaptable strategy

in accordance with international

best practices is the best ap-

proach to a con-

stantly changing

world and environ-

ment around us,

who would have

thought we would

have won the world

cup hosting bid a

year ago? We have

to keep moving forward and

adapting to changes around us in

order to meet growth demands

for our nation, and our Economy

and facilitate urban development

in both existing and new com-

munities and provide our citi-

zens with world class services.

It is time for us to deliv-

er on our promises, it is

time that plans and

ideas are transformed

into tangible benefits

and services for our

AL-THANI PRAISES THE

ASHGHAL STRATEGY &

DIRECTION

H.E. Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-

Thani, Minster of Minstery of

Municipality & Urban Planning

Ashghal strategy and hailed it

as an example to follow and

thanked H.E. the President of

Ashghal and his team for a

job well done. H.E. the Min-

ster advised that the learning

and the process of strategy

Qatar Deserves the

Best. Our new slogan

is launched.

Why is this our belief? What does it mean? And

how do we demonstrate it in our behavior?

Our new Corporate Logo Launched. The new Ashghal

logo will soon be

seen on our station-

ary, company cars,

website, gift items

and more as part of

our corporate brand-

ing. Please support

and promote our cor-

porate brand.

It is amazing to think how long

it took us as a team to come up

with one simple sentence to be

our new slogan . We wanted to

find the words

that describes

and conveys

what we stand

for to both, the

internal and the

external cus-

tomer. The idea

of creating out

corporate slogan was first dis-

cussed in 2009 when the Presi-

dent and a group of Ashghal

managers attended an external

workshop and the subject was

discussed and Qatar Deserves

The Best was the chosen slogan,

however, the President was not

then convinced that our internal

readiness had then qualified us

to use such a slogan and that it

was too early for us to use such

a powerful statement. Now and

after the recent push

in both, technical

and organizational

development which

took place over the

past couple of years

I think we can safe-

ly use our well

earned slogan,.

Qatar Deserves The Best is not

just a sentence made up of some

buzz words, it is now a a guide-

line for all employees to follow,

it is an indication that only the

best would be good enough at

Ashghal, the best people, re-

sources, materials, systems and

performance.

Launching our corpo-

rate slogan is meant to

strengthen our organi-

zational behavior and

give us a sense of unity

under one vision

I BELIEVE IN BE ING THE

BEST, MY COUNTRY NEEDS

ME TO BE!, I SHALL

BE AND WILL ENCOURAGE

OTHERS TO BE!

Everyone of us has aspira-

tions and ambitons, some

personal and some profes-

sional, and in order to

achieve those ambitions

you would have to invest in

your skills and education,

obtain experience and ex-

posure to best working

practices, learn how to lead

by example and how to be

an example to follow, show

pride in your work no mat-

ter what it is that you do.

HR facilitates employee seminars to pro-

mote knowledge development

The Ashghal HRD had recently

started an internal employee edu-

cation and training Programme

comprising of a series of work-

shops and lectures on various sub-

jects of interest, technical, infor-

mational, managerial and cultural

subjects were amongst the sub-

jects of interest. The chosen sub-

jects were well received by the

Ashghal employees and we were

encouraged by the positive feed-

back from various departments

and we intend to continue this

practice in order to support our

employees with knowledge and

education wherever possible. We

would encourage employees to

participate and engage in this

learning process.
