Word of Encouragement PLBA WOMEN
A Nugget From My Spiritual Journey... What a year we have all come through! Individually, we have all had mo-ments of joy, seasons of personal trials, and maybe even life-changing events where nothing will ever be the same again. We may have experienced great gain or loss. As a nation, we have felt much unrest, uncertainty, tension and even fear. We have done a lot of heart-searching and made challenging decisions in this land we call home! Here we sit…upon the precipice of the unknown, the year 2017. But, is that really different than when we wake up every morning, facing an unknown day? Each day we must trust the Lord…and He trusts US with each day! Each day is a gift, yet we never know what it will hold before bedtime. As I am writing this (for printing purposes) in not quite mid-December of 2016, we have just returned home from the funeral of a former Pastor’s wife (65), who went home to Jesus in her sleep. Later, I noticed as I was scrolling through the morning’s social media posts that three friends or family members of friends had died this morning. We just don’t know, do we? Yet, we often find ourselves worrying about what we are going to do next Tuesday or next Saturday or next month or next year! Why do we have trou-ble with trusting God for those supposedly tangible days, weeks, months or years, when we have already trusted Him completely for the unending eons of eternity??? If we can trust Him for our eternal lives, why do we sometimes struggle with trusting Him with our daily lives, hour by hour? Does that really do us any good? Jesus said in Matthew 6:25-34, “…do not worry about your life…for the pagans run after all of these things…seek first His kingdom and His righteousness…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Perhaps that would be the best “New Year’s Resolution” for us all…to trust Him fully, without worry, AND to be obedient, trustworthy servants to Him!!! Only His resounding question(s) to us will matter above all else in eternity: “What did you do with My gift of My Son to you? Did you accept Him or did you reject Him? Did you serve Him?”

It Might Preach! “How To Live In Perenial Revival”
Psalm 85:8-13
Introduction of Psalm 85:
Acknowledge God’s work in the past (vv.1-3)
Accept God’s work in the present (vv. 4-7)
Anticipate God’s work in the future (vv. 8-13)
(Four reminders on how to move from here to revival:)
I. REDISCOVER GOD’S WORD (v. 8 “I will hear what God the Lord will say, for He will speak...to His people…”)
God Still Speaks!
II. REVERE GOD’S WORK (v. 9 “...His salvation is near to those who fear Him, that His glory may dwell in the land.”)
God Still Saves!
III. REALIGN WITH GOD’S WAYS (vv. 10-11 “Loving-kindness and truth have met together…” ie. grace and truth. “Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.”)
God Still Sanctifies!
IV. RECOMMIT TO GOD’S WILL (vv. 12-13 “...our land will yield its produce. Righteousness will go before Him and will make His footsteps into a way.”)
God Still Sends!
Conclusion “Will You not Yourself revive us again that your people
may rejoice in You? (v. 6)

In just a matter of days, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States. For those of us who have been watch-ing this historic campaign and election, there is some sigh of relief. And as President–elect Trump begins to establish his cabinet, the relief even becomes greater. I was especially interested in Scott Pruitt’s appointment as Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Pruitt has served faithfully as our Attorney General for Oklahoma . He is a born-again Christian, member of First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow and a Trustee on the Board at Southern Semi-nary. God seems to be putting a good number of genuine Christ-followers in Trump’s cabinet. I don’t think this is just coincidental. We’ve been praying by the tens of thousands for our nation and for our govern-ment. How God chooses to answer our prayers is up to him. But we can surely see His hand at work. Nevertheless, the salvation of our nation is not primarily in the hands of any one president, vice-president, cabinet, congress, court or de-mocracy. Our only hope is still the only hope we’ve ever had. Since (and even before) the first Christmas we have hoped in the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Lord Jesus Christ. So, as thankful as we are for a new administration in Washington, we are much more thankful for the administration of God over ours and all other nations. We are thankful for what looks like a little more time for us to pray and work for revival in the land. Keep praying according to II Chronicles 7:14 and I know He will heal our needy nation.
Encouragingly Yours, Russell Cook
