  • Slide 3
  • What is Matter? Everything around you is matter! Matter is anything that has mass (the amount of stuff in an object) and takes up space. There are different states, or phases, of matter. Changes can occur between these states.
  • Slide 4
  • States of Matter The 3 Main States of Matter are: - Solid - Liquid - Gas
  • Slide 5
  • Solid A solid is a state of matter that Keeps its shape Does not flow easily Contains particles that cant move past one another
  • Slide 6
  • Liquid A liquid is a state of matter that Takes the shape of its container Flows easily Is made up of particles that can slide past one another
  • Slide 7
  • Gas A gas is a state of matter that Has no shape of its own Flows easily Is made up of particles that can easily move past one another
  • Slide 8
