April 9, 2017 Lent: Invitation to Change

One Step At A Time

Lent is a time for thinking about where we come from and where we are going. It offers opportunity for us to make decisions about what matters much and what matters only a little.

Our faith community is looking to the future with some sense of adventure. Persons are stepping out to offer their gifts and abilities in service to the common good. This involves them in learning new things about themselves and the world in which they live.

It is important for each and all of us to be supportive and encouraging of those who volunteer to serve our hopes in various ways. Our expression of appreciation is one of the ways in which we can offer ourselves to serve the common good.

We are not simply a business delivering religious ideas for the consumption of passive listeners. We are persons looking for a way to make a difference in a world that very much needs change. Working together we are strong to accomplish great things. Always remembering that love is something which we freely give away and end up having more.

“Our deepest calling is to grow into our own authentic self-hood, whether or not it conforms to some image of who we ought to be. As we do so, we will not only find the joy that every human being seeks--we will also find our path of authentic service in the world.” Parker J. Palmer
