    KEY SKILLS.

    Many years experience of all stages of the project life cycle from concept design through front end engineering, detailed

    design, plant erection to commissioning both as an engineering lead and as a project team member.

    Over 11 years experience in cryogenic gas liquefaction systems and machines for air separation and gas liquefaction plants

    as OEM specialist for Air Products Cryomachines and as owners engineer for Chevron.

    Specialist in the specification, selection, maintenance and development of all types of rotating equipment particularly pumps,

    reciprocating/turbo compressors, cryogenic turbo expanders and liquefied gas pumps.

    Also an experienced static equipment engineer with extensive knowledge of most types of process plant equipment for

    example boilers, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers and piping to ASME, API and British standards.

    CAREER HISTORY.

    April 2010 to present Chevron- Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer.

    Supervision of EPC contractor (MW Kellogg/KBR/JGC joint venture) focussing on standards compliance, quality, cost and

    delivery of rotating equipment packages on Gorgon LNG plant for Western Australia.

    Responsible for engineering of variable speed turbo compressor strings by GE Nuovo Pignone for (worlds largest) carbon

    dioxide sequestration (carbon capture and storage, CCS) plant and boil off gas turbo compressors by Siemens. Dry gas sealsystems for above machines by John Crane and Flowserve.

    Responsible for delivery of all API610 pump and mechanical seal packages across the project and for canned motor pumps in

    LNG service to 750kw.

    July 2009 to April 2010 Aker Solutions- Principal Mechanical and Rotating Equipment Engineer.

    Leading a team of engineers in the detail design of a major nuclear plant, utilities/infrastructure, effluent treatment/recovery

    plants for uranium hexafluoride reprocessing and the manufacture of hydrofluoric acid.

    Technical study of gas engine and gas turbine options for on site combined heat and power (CHP) generation.

    Responsible for my own specialism of rotating equipment across the project, writing and approving datasheets, enquiryspecifications, vendor selection, bid appraisals, for machines and special purpose process plant.

    May 2008 to July 2009 Morgan Sindall (formerly AMEC)- Principal Mechanical and Rotating Equipment Engineer.

    Conceptual and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of a major nuclear plant, utilities/infrastructure, effluent

    treatment/recovery plants for uranium hexafluoride reprocessing and the manufacture of hydrofluoric acid.

    Responsible for my own specialism of rotating equipment across the project and responsible for team of engineers on the

    development of the site and facilities layout, PFDs/P&IDs, site infrastructure, utilities.

    Leading client design reviews, hazard operability studies, constructability and human factors reviews, basis of

    design/substantiation reports, in order to meet project deliverables and regulatory requirements to programme.

    Jan 2008 to May 2008 Punj Lloyd Simon Carves- Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer.

    Responsible for close out of rotating equipment and plant systems/areas construction on a major petrochemicals plant project

    and prepare for hand over to the commissioning team addressing all outstanding construction or engineering issues between

    the lead contractor, sub contractors and client engineering team. Project is presently the worlds largest single stream LDPE (Exxon process) plant for a Middle East based client (SABIC) and

    features some of the largest reciprocating and hyper compressors ever built (GE Nuovo Pignone).

    Aug 2006 to Jan 2007 and Jul 2007 to Jan 2008 INEOS- Mechanical Engineer.

    Engineering of multiple improvement projects on chlor-alkali, petrochemical and gas turbine CHP plants replacing end of life

    or unreliable equipment for increased reliability of both rotating equipment and static plant.

    Main project being a replacement for a large end of life evaporative cooling tower system.

    Jun 2006 to Aug 2006 and Jan 2007 to Jul 2007 CEL International- Lead Mechanical Engineer.

    Leading the design and specification of static and rotating equipment, piping specifications, boilers and other plant utilities for

    a major pharmaceutical manufacturing plant project and effluent treatment plants.

    Mechanical discipline lead in writing technical specifications, datasheets, enquiries for tender, bid analysis, design reviews,

    constructability studies, hazard operability studies.

    Management of mechanical engineers and design resource for layout, piping, P&IDs, 2D and 3D CAD.

    compliance.

    Aug 2005 to Jan 2006 Kemira Growhow- Lead Mechanical Engineer.

    Managing of principal contractor (AMEC) and sub-contractors during major overhaul and upgrade of large petrochemical

    plant, syngas area, steam systems, turbo compressors, gas expander and steam turbine drives.

    Jan 2003 to Jun 2004 Great Lakes- Lead Reliability Engineer and CMMS Manager.

    Responsible for all reliability engineering issues at a major hazard chemical production site.

    Jan 1993 to Jan 2003 Air Products- Senior Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment).

    Responsible for machinery upgrade projects and maintenance at UK, Asian and European (both Air Products and client

    owned) gas production and liquefaction plants.

    OEM technical specialist representing APCI Cryomachines group at Air Products owned and 3rd party facilities.

    Responsibility in the UK and Europe for hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and helium compression and liquefaction with respect to

    development of reciprocating hydrogen compressors, expanders and rotating equipment.

    Specialist skills in the development of rotating equipment, especially large centrifugal and reciprocating compressors,

    cryogenic pumps, gas seals and cryogenic gas expanders for air separation units, gas liquefaction plants and syn-gasreformers. Electric, gas expander, steam and gas turbine drives up to 36MW.

    1990 - 93 Imperial Chemical Industries- Machines Engineer.

    Responsible for all machinery issues, upgrade projects, specification of new machines at a chlor-alkali and petrochemicals

    facilities. Work scope ranging from gas and steam turbine drives to pumps of all types.

    Development, implementation and managing of advanced machinery maintenance policies and procedures introducing

    condition based and pro-active maintenance methods.

    Introducing a site wide machinery maintenance strategy still running today that has reduced pump failures by ~80% since

    1990.

    Career Before 1990-

    Various site and office based roles in petrochemical, chlor-alkali, utilities and acrylics business units, mainly rotating equipment focused(from pumps to large compressors to gas turbines, condensing, back pressure and pass out steam turbines to 40MW) with ICIEngineering and ICI Chemicals and Polymers Ltd in the UK and Taiwan.
