Every Newborn Country Consultation

• Stimulate national dialogue and action to accelerate progress for newborn health and stillbirth reduction by all key country stakeholders

• Systematically assess status for high impact interventions and plan how to overcome bottlenecks for scale-up and ensure reflected in government plans with adequate funding

• Enable countries to feedback on the Every Newborn plan content, goals and actions so this is truly grounded in real change (country up, not a global down plan)

Country consultation objectivesMain objective:

To provide an opportunity to engage key stakeholders in participatory discussions around the global action plan, and stimulate national dialogue to promote coordinated efforts among key country stakeholders to identify what needs to happen to scale-up evidenced based interventions to address preventable newborn deaths.

Specific objectives:

1. To provide a forum for Uganda to identify bottlenecks, challenges and solutions and actions to accelerate the scale up of newborn programmes in national plans

2. To review and provide input to the global Every Newborn action plan draft document

3. To ensure country-level alignment with other key initiatives and political processes

The Every Newborn consultative process should lead to clear outputs including: • A report on bottlenecks to scale-up of quality

newborn care• A summary of country inputs and

recommendations to further refine and develop the global Every Newborn action plan

The results of the consultation will be shared with decision makers, media, and programme planners to harness their support for strengthening equitable policies and programmes
