Here is the current project my College Comp II class is working on. It's my first run at a Sticky-Note Book report.TRANSCRIPT
The Sticky-Note Book Report (or the assignment from *&^%!!!!)
Supplies Needed for the Book Report:
*Your brain*The book(s) I assigned*Sticky-Notes*Computer (preferably an Apple)
Procedure:
*Use at least 20 notes*Cover your entire book(s)*Use at least 10 categories from the list (more points will be awarded for the categories of Revising Meaning, Analyzing Author’s Craft, Reflecting & Relating, and Evaluating).*Don’t write summaries (unless you are trying to make sense of a particularly difficult passage)*Use university level analysis*Meet with me to finish the book report.
Scoring:
Total Project is worth 200 points --*Sticky-Note report (100)
Sticky-Notes are worth 3 points each (20 x 3 = 60 pts)*Book Talk (50)*Essay (50)
Dates to remember:
!December 8th - Sticky-Note Book Report!December 9th & 10th - Book Talks!December 13th - Essay due.
Additional Assignments:
Book Talk - Present your book and report to the class. Keep these things in mind -
*offer a brief summary of your book(s)*what did you find most interesting?*how does this relate to you or us?*what other issues does the book deal with?
Essay - Choose one issue or event from your book(s) that interests you. Then simply write a 6-8-page research paper on it (MLA format). Remember to use a minimum of
four sources (this includes your book or books). Wikipedia and blogs may be used, but they will not count as one of our four must-have sources!
