Changing with the TimesThe advertising and newspaper industries are rapidly changing. Just a few years ago, media pundits were predicting the death of the newspaper. Newspapers remain uniquely valued as one of the last bastions of truly local community building. Whereas most newspaper publishers have been bought up by national conglomerates, we remain steadfastly privately-owned and operated in Kingston, NY.

Our primary goal as local publishers is to bring the vast Hudson Valley community to-gether to read and discuss the week’s news and events. When the region wants in-depth, high-quality local journalism, their eyes turn to us.

Our advertising clients keep this dream alive while keeping their own dream of running a successful business on track. Some of our clients have been placing their ads in our publications for over 20 years, becoming as much a fixture in our newspapers as our newspapers are in our community.

The bottom line: There just isn’t a value proposition quite like advertising in your local newspaper. Unlike magazine advertising, it’s inexpensive and timely. Unlike web adver-tising, your audience is local and your ad is relevant. Unlike direct mail, people love to see our newspapers arrive. You get the picture.

We’ve put together this 2011 Advertising Guide so you can learn about the unique advertising opportunity that’s available to you with Ulster Publishing newspapers. Like so many of our clients have, we’re confident you’ll see our local advertising advantage and inquire further. Please let this guide serve as your overview, and don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or to get started.

Sincerely,

Geddy SveikauskasPublisher, Ulster Publishing

Rates for newspaper advertising are calculated per column inch. There are four columns on every alm@nac page, and three columns in all of our other papers.

How tall do you want your ad to be? Measure in inches. How wide do you want your ad to be? Measure in columns. Then simply multiply the height (in inches) by the number of columns.

Example: A full-page ad in the alm@nac is 15.5” tall, and 4 columns wide. 4 x 15.5” = 62”.
