The “V”-Drum Sander

Unique Features

1. No clips needed for holding paper. VELCRO® brand hook & loop is used for changing paper - simply unroll one grit and roll on another.

2. Sandpaper used on the V-Drum is less costly than the clothback paper used for commercial units.

3. The drum is made from polycarbonate tubing which runs cooler and eliminates static. With no static on the drum, dust won’t stick to the paper. Instead it drops down into the box, allowing for easier dust collection.

4. Centrifugal force is a key element. Firstly it lifts paper off the drum creating an air gap. The air gap prevents the drum from creating heat, which in turn helps paper to last longer. Secondly, centrifugal force means it takes less power to run the “V”-Drum as the drum is not forcing the paper into the wood.

5. Klingspor brand stearate coated paper will sand pine, paint and even nails without damaging to the paper, an extra cost to the user.

6. On longer drums use two or three different grits at once.

7. Depth of cut is changed by switching the grit of sandpaper. If you want to cut more use a coarser grit, cut less use a finer grit, etc.

DEMONSTRATIONS

www.stockroomsupply.com We have come to realize that sooner or later, every woodworker becomes aware of their need for our V-Drum Sander. Whether it be

for surface sanding, edge sanding, stripping paint, restoration, or whatever unique purpose they have in mind, this sander will do it! Originally designed to be a poor man’s drum sander, this product has changed the way woodworkers surface sand. It has been

featured on HGTV’s In The Workshop, and in several magazines within Canada and the US. The word continues to spread

about this outstanding tool.

“The Flatmaster”

Using the “V” Drum works kit and an MDF top, this heavy duty, solid steel constructed sander works the same as the unit you build yourself. As with the build yourself models, the Flatmaster does not come with a motor. The unit is specially designed for basic motor mount. The heavy duty metal fences are sold with the Flatmaster or sold separately. Each single Fence comes with a pair of Feather Wheels (pg. 9). These fences are bent within a 1° tolerance. They are not a perfect 90°. If a perfect 90° is required, the fence may be shimmed on the inside or outside depending on the angle.

Centrifugal forCeCENTRIFUGAL FORCE is the key element for making this sander such an impressive machine!! Take time to set it up before you start using it. Initially, the drum must be set below the table. Using the finest grit of sandpaper on the drum and your drum turned OFF, take a flat edged board and slide it over the drum. The drum should be slightly below the table. When tipping up your board, you should be able to see light between the drum and the board. This means that when you slide your board over the drum the paper will not be touching (or ever so slightly, but not enough to sand the wood or turn the drum). When you turn the drum ON, the paper will lift off due to centrifugal force and cause the paper to sand. Once you have this set up, you DO NOT need to change the height adjustment again. To adjust the depth of cut, change from finer to coarser grits.

1. Why am I getting chatter marks?Usually this means your drum is set too high and the paper is being pinched between the drum and the wood. This causes uncontrolled feed rates which in turn causes chatter marks. Page 7 explains how to set up your drum. The drum must initially be set slightly below the table with your finest grit of sandpaper (usually a 220g). The theory is that with enough RPM (1750 rpm on 4” diameter drums and 2200 rpm on 2” diameter drums) the paper will lift off the drum due to centrifugal force. The paper will only lift off until the loop is engaged at the end of the hook -- .0018”. Because the paper is not touching the drum, the paper is allowed to cut without creating heat (due to the air gap between the paper and drum – no friction – no heat). Consider the paper floating around the outside of the drum providing a soft touch to your work with no pinching of the paper.

2. When building my own sander, what plan am I supposed to follow? You can be as imaginative as you like and come up with your own version, but we say the EASIEST and most STRAIGHTFORWARD plan to follow is the DVD version (which includes a Parts and Cut list). This plan also incorporates the Top that we sell (or shows you how make your own). A DVD comes with each kit but may also be viewed online. Other creative plans are available on our website.

3. Which way should the drum be turning? The drum should be set so that it is turning TOWARD the operator.

4. How do I adjust the depth of cut? When you want to change the depth of cut of your sander, it’s as simple as changing the grit. If you want to cut more, put on a coarser grit. If you want to cut less, put on a finer grit. The grits available range from 60-1500g.

5. The paper keeps flying off the drum...what should I do?In order to prevent this from happening, we recommend that you cut the paper’s pointed tips off square. (If you see us at the show, this is what we do, although once in a while the paper still comes off. We call this our disappearing paper trick!) If you do this and your paper still comes off, you may want to double check to see that your drum is below the table. Another reason the paper could be coming off is simply because it is worn out. You can generally take each piece on and off 20-30 times. The paper has also been known to come off when the drum is running too fast. 18” drums should have a motor running at 1725 RPM (the balanced drive system will cause the speed to increase to 2250 RPM). The 24” and 30” drums require a 1/2 HP motor running 1725 RPM. Under NO circumstances should the 24” or 30” drums run any faster.

6. Why does the top of the drum sander have to be so thick? There cannot be any flex in the top or your sander will not sand properly, so by making the top thick, it prevents this from happening.

7. What motor size do I need? The air gap caused with this sander allows for the use of fractional hp motors. ¼ hp is required for the 2” diameter (18”) and a ½ hp is required for the 4” diameter (24” & 30”) running at 1725 rpm. Under no circumstances should the 24” or 30” drums run any faster.

8. Does the hook and loop on the drum ever wear out? It should never wear out, since it isn’t being crushed or heated up by wood being pushed into it, but in the event it does wear out, we warranty it and will replace it for you.

9. When wrapping the sandpaper on the drum, does it matter if there is a gap in the sandpaper where the drum shows through? As long as the paper is rolled on evenly, it does not matter if there is a gap. When the drum spins fast, the gap is irrelevant.

10. Do I need a dust collector for my drum? The V-drum Sander is made with a special anti-static polycarbonate tubing. This, in turn means that when you are sanding, most of the dust you are creating just falls into the box below. The dust is not “charged” and therefore does not float in the air. Although there is a minimal amount of dust, we highly recommend the use of a dust collector in some way, shape or form. What most people do is simply cut a hole in the side as a port for a vacuum or dust collection system. We even have a woman who has purchased the drum, who keeps the V- drum Sander in her spare bedroom and hooks her vacuum cleaner up to it when she sands. She loves it and uses it regularly!

11.Why does this drum sander sand from the bottom when most other drum sanders sand from the top? When the drum is on the top, you may find yourself sanding through the sawdust that you have already produced. No dust collector can remove all this sawdust. Sooner or later, the sawdust will start loading and the sandpaper will work inefficiently. The sawdust created with the V-Drum sander (or Flatmaster) is drawn downward so you are always sanding a cleaner piece of wood and finishing with a cleaner surface.Another advantage to the drum being on the bottom is that the surface of the table can be used as a set up point. The sandpaper will only make contact with what the flat surface will allow. The results are that you can sand a twist to match the flat surface. Also, sanding off a flat surface allows the user to sand past the end of the drum, turn the piece around and sand the other side without leaving a large overlap mark.

12. Can I convert my existing drum sander to hook and loop?Yes, you can, but be prepared that converting your drum sander over to the hook and loop fastening system is going to change everything you have been taught about how to sand with your drum sander. All drum sanders are designed to pinch the sandpaper between the drum and the wood in order to cut. This is what creates heat. Heat then breaks down the resins in the wood, allowing the sandpaper to load up and burn the finish. Also, hook and loop conversion CANNOT withstand heat. It is made from plastic and if it heats up, it will melt. When you have the hook and loop system on your drum, you need to change the way you have your drum set up in order to prevent heat from building up. With the hook and loop system, when the drum is turned on, the paper actually lifts off the drum. This is called centrifugal force and it is the basis behind making the hook and loop system work for you. You will want to set your drum up so that the drum is not touching the wood, but when you turn your drum on, centrifugal force will lift the paper off the drum allowing it to sand. You may have to change this adjustment depending on which grit you have on your sander. This will leave an air gap between the drum and paper preventing heat build up. This is a completely different concept than most people are accustomed to, but it is the only way to make the hook and loop system work. People either love this system, or hate it. The ones who hate it are the ones who cannot understand this new concept. The ones who love it will never go back. Also, when switching to this system, we recommend using 80 grit sandpaper and finer. Any coarser and the sandpaper causes too much drag and the sandpaper sometimes comes unhooked.

The secret to making sandpaper work for you is to choose the right grit for the job. The bigger the grit the more material you will remove. Therefore, always use a coarse enough grit to remove the imperfections quickly then start stepping up thru the finer grits. Each finer grit removes the scratches from the previous grit. Soon the surface will have no visible scratches and will be smooth to the touch.

What we mean when we call sandpaper freSH We must sound like we are selling you fruit or vegetables, but believe it or not, sandpaper can get old and rotten too! You the consumer need to be an informed buyer! Think about this scenario. You stop by a local retail store and grab a sheet of 80 grit sandpaper for a special project. At home in the workshop, you use that sheet of paper and it is lasting a long time - cuts like crazy, doesn’t load up - just exactly what you expected. Your project is just about complete when that sheet of paper is too worn out to continue. Off to buy another sheet of sandpaper, only this time you stop at a different store. The sheet is exactly the same brand and grit, so you assume the same quality as before. This time though, the grit appears to fall off fairly easily and it is wearing out much more quickly! What you have just experienced is the result of “OLD” sandpaper. You will find this scenario can happen with belts, sheets, discs or anything “abrasive”. When sandpaper becomes old, or subjected to improper storage conditions, the glue may become dried out. This causes the sandpaper to become brittle and the grit falls off prematurely. When purchasing sandpaper, try to buy the freshest possible. It will cost you less in the long run.

What Does Stearate Coating Mean?Numerous particles of abrasive grit are glued to paper or cloth to be used as sandpaper. If you magnify a tiny piece of this grit, you would discover it to be irregularly shaped. When a stearate coating is applied over this grit, it fills in the area around the bottom of each piece of grit where sawdust, paint, and varnish debris can get trapped and cause the surface to become plugged. This zinc stearate coating fills in those nooks and crannies, while maintaining the cutting ability of the sandpaper, and with Klingspor’s special coating, no residue from the process is left behind when you sand. Because of this surface treatment, the sandpaper becomes a non-loading paper thus meaning longer life from your sandpaper investment. Due to less debris stuck into the paper, there is less friction and less heat build-up, further extending the life of the paper (as well as the sander you may be using). The sandpaper also has better flexibility when coated and the grit does not come off as easily.Klingspor’s slogan is “The Most Sanding Power for Your Money!”, and that is the truth. Whether you are a hobbyist or professional craftsman, you will appreciate the performance of Klingspor’s stearate coated products and the premium finish you will receive. It is definitely worth the extra money spent, no questions asked!!

Design Moulding

Traditionally, moulding sanders have been very expensive, even though they perform a simple task. We have developed a “Build-Your-Own” moulding sanding system by using a custom made arbor, along with our sanding mop sheets. The sanding mops are stacked onto the shaft to create an 7” moulding sander head. Anyone who has ever used a sanding mop will know how well this system works. With a bracket assembly, you have a fully adjustable moulding sander. Just bolt to a base and supply your own motor. Extra sanding heads are sold separately making grit changes quick and easy.

The Sanding Mop - FAQ’s

Used a 6” x 80 grit sanding mop on this 28’ square barnboard floor

Visit our website www.stockroomsupply.com

Assembly Suggestions (view video instructions online)

1. If you have a 4” Mop, separate sheets into 1” wide strips. If you have a 6” Mop, go directly to step 2.

2. If you plan on assembling your mop with stabilizers, begin by placing one white nylon disc over the mandrel. If you don’t intend on using stabilizers, skip to step 3.

3. Hold two sanding strips with backs together (blue to blue, grit sides to the outside). Line them up straight and place over arbor (see Fig. A). Lay a 2nd set over the arbor at 90° to the 1st set, to create a cross (see Fig. B).

4. If you will not be using spacers, skip to step 5. If you intend to use the red spacers, you would now place one spacer over the arbor and continue to put one spacer on after every 2 sets (4 sheets). (On the mandrel which comes with the kit, you can fit 24 sheets with 5 spacers, giving you 2 soft mops with each kit.)

5. Continue criss-crossing sets (see Fig. C) until you reach the thickness of mop you desire - between 16 and 48 strips.

6. If you are not using stablizers, skip to step 7. If you are using stablizers, place the other white stabilizer over the mandrel.

7. Tighten the nut and you are ready to use your mop! Place unit securely in a drill, drill press, lathe, bench grinder...

Before using your mop, break it in by holding a peice of scrap wood up to it for several minutes. This will help to break apart the fingers and increase your mops’ flexibility.

To ensure your safety, the use of mask and goggles are recommended.

1- What size Sanding Mop should I use?If you are a woodworker we suggest that you use a 6” Mop because it does not require the same amount of RPM’s as the 4”. A 4” Mop requires a minimum speed of 4000 RPM’s and most woodworkers do not have the tools to run a 4” properly. You will not get the life out of a 4” Mop running it on a drill as you will out of a 6”. If you are working with metal we suggest you use a 4” and run it using air tools. Overall, you are going to get a longer life out of a 6” Sanding Mop.

2- How long will my Mop last? One thing to remember about the mop is that speed is the key. The faster you spin the mop the longer they will last and the better they will work. 6” mops need to be spun between 2000 and 3500 RPM’s. 4” mops need to be run between 4000 and 10,000 RPM’s. Cordless drills and some electric drills do not have the required RPM’s to achieve optimum results.

3-How can I make my mop bigger and more flexible? You can purchase the parts for a fluffy mop or do the following if you already have a regular mop. Buy an extra long mandrel (see pg. 17) or pick up a ½” x 4-1/2” hardened bolt at your local hardware store and use 10 or more spacers with one package of sanding strips to produce a soft, 3” wide sanding surface for even larger contours. Especially effective with the 6” mop and great for raised panel doors or in-between coat sanding. This form of the Sanding Mop is best being used with only the finer grits, 220g and 320g.

4- What is the difference between a spacer and a stabilizer?First of all, these two products are not meant to be used together. Spacers are small rubber type washers used between the strips of sandpaper to create a softer more pliable mop. Using one spacer after every 4 sheets will produce this effect. The advantage is that you will have a unit that will fit itself around a larger contour. On the other hand, stabilizers are larger white nylon discs. When one disc is mounted on each side of the assembly, a firmer, more aggressive mop is created where only the tips of the little fingers are allowed to sand.

5- How do I break in my mop?In order to prevent your Sanding Mop from being overly aggressive it needs to be broken in. Just hold a piece of scrap wood into your mop while it is spinning for a minimum of 5 minutes. Once the fingers are all separated and the mop begins to soften and become more flexible, you are ready to sand.

6- Will one grit of Sanding Mop sand both hardwood and softwood?Yes, but 120g may take the crisp edge off the profile in softwood and 220g may glaze hardwood. Therefore we recommend using 120g only for sanding hardwoods and 220g for sanding softwoods or in-between coats with the use of spacers.

7- Can I strip paint with the Sanding Mop?The sanding mop works great for stripping paint. What we suggest you do is cover the piece to be stripped with any paint stripper and allow it to dry until it crystalizes (1-2 days). Once the paint stripper is dried, use a sanding mop to sand down the piece. No need to worry about scraping or ruining the detail of your piece. Just let the mop do the work.

8- I have a CNC Router (Carver). What Sanding Mop Kit do I want? For hardwoods you would want to build a 120 grit Fluffy Mop and for softwoods, you would want to build a 180 grit Fluffy Mop.

Quick Tips* The faster you spin your mop the better it will work and the longer it will last. The 6” requires a minimum of 2500RPM and the 4” requires a minimum of

3000RPM.* When using the mop, let the finger tips do the work. If you press or push into the mop it will wear down very quickly.*The Fluffy mop is designed for sanding raised panel doors, carvings, etc. The more spacers added to your mop the less aggressive it will be. Fluffy mops work

best with 180, 220, and 320g, although they can be used with any grit.* Regular Mops are designed for sanding corners, edges and things that require more aggression. We

recommend 120g for hardwood and 220g for softwood.* Before using your mop make sure to break it in by holding it up to a scrap peice of wood for approx.

5 minutes* The Sanding Mop is not a shaper, it is a profile sander that will sand anything with a profile and

leave the detail.* Just like any new tool, play with the sanding mop a little to see which set-up works best for your

application

Straight, Shear or Spiral - which one do I need?

Straight bits are a great multi-purpose bit that come in a wide variety of sizes. If you often work with difficult hardwoods, try a shear bit for a smoother cut. When working in a spot where chip removal and the direction of the chips is a concern, a solid carbide spiral is just what you need. Single flute excels when cutting speed is more important than finish quality.

WHy ARE My pLyWooD DADoES RAttLing?

We all know that a 2x4 isn’t really 2” x 4”, and plywood measures the same way. you will need to choose bits that are undersized to compensate for the sanding process of plywood. The correct bit will provide a great fit without any slop. Remember to select an over-size bit if you are using melamine. the lami-nate makes it thicker. Don’t apply this logic when using MDF because MDF measures true (i.e. ½” MDF is ½”).

PATTERN BIT SELECTIONPattern bits are commonly used with handheld routers to allow better visibility of the template while cutting. When selecting a pattern bit, be sure to keep in mind the complexities of the pattern and the tightest radius in the pattern. Always use the larg-est diameter bit that is compatible with the pattern for the best finish quality and the greatest ease of use. Larger diameter bits also allow for larger bearings which last longer in heavy use applications. Always remember to check the bit clearance below your work so that you don’t accidentally cut into your workbench or other support

structure.

fINgERNAIl BITSFingernail bits, also known as half radius bullnose bits, are used often to soften hard edges on tables, countertops, stairs, and in almost all applications were you could use a full radius Bullnose. These bits produce a very nice edge when the bead opening is smaller than the material thickness.

PluNgINg BITS plunging bits are commonly used alone or in com-bination to produce faux raised panel doors. By plunging into MDF or plywood at an equal distance from the edge of a flat door, a profile is created to resemble a rail and stile with a raised panel insert. Use this technique to give personality to all types of utility cabinets or painted doors in a kitchen or bath.

TEChTIP

PluNgINg dECORATIvE BITSPlunging decorative edges work well for creating decora-tive designs in the face of drawers, doors, jewelry boxes, cabinetry, frames, and adding detail to your fine furniture projects. Make great mouldings for your projects or small false raised panels doors in MDF applications.

DEPTH OF CuT ANDBEARING SELECTION

Selection of the correct bearing for a perfect rabbet cut can be tricky! the formulas below will help you determine the exact bearing size for any type of bit.

(D) Diameter of Cutter = outer diameter of the cutter.(BoD) Bearing oD = outer diameter of the guide bearing.Bearing ID = Inner diameter of guide bearing (to fit the bit).(CD) Cut depth = result of cutting using the guide bearing against the material with the cutter.Kerf = depth of cut (changed by height of router or shaper).

Use one of the formulas below to calculate the bearing, cut-ter diameter or cut depth you need.

BoD = D-(2*CD) Ex.: ½” bearing = 1” cutter-(2* ¼” cut depth)CD = (D-BoD)/2 ¼” cut depth = (1” cutter-1/2” bearing)/2D = (2*CD)+BoD 1” Cutter = (2* ¼” cut depth)+ ½” bearing

When ordering bits be sure and specify the iD and the oD to assure you get the right bearing. if possible provide the Woodline bit part number you are using the bearing on.

Ex.: 5/8” bearing with 3/16” ID to fit a WL 1225-1.

4-wINg SlOT CuTTERSThese slot cutters will give clean entry cuts with-out kickback while producing true square slots with a clean flush bottom finish. All have a half inch depth of cut and come in a wide selection of kerf thicknesses.

Dovetail joints

Dovetails are used for drawer and case joint construction. two of the most common types are half blind and through dovetails. Half blind are so named because they are only visible from one side of the joint. Most half blind dovetails are made with a 14 degree angle bit. through dovetails are visible from both sides and are usually cut with a 7-1/2 or 8 degree angle bit.

Many 1/2” dovetail jigs use a 7/16” guide bushing and a 1/2” 14° dovetail bit. the secret to successful jig use is bit height and edge alignment of the material. Set the depth of cut to 3/8” as a starting point and increase depth if joint is loose, decrease if joint is tight.

TestimonialI developed a special jig that required a very high-tolerance, perfect fit dovetail to produce the desired result. The accuracy of the bit was essential to my design. I tried many different brands and found that Woodline bits were designed and ground to the high tolerance I required. The service has been great and the bits are of exceptional quality.

These modified tongue and groove bits effectively double the glue surface area of the joint while distributing the mechanical stress across a much larger percentage of the surface. 45° LoCK MitER BitS

1. Insert and properly tighten Lock Miter bit in the collet. At least 1” - 1¼” of shank must be in collet for safety. Set router for proper speed.

2. Adjust router until the centerline of cutter aligns with centerline of stock. An easy method to determine the center is to miter a sample cut in two pieces. Rotate one piece and fit together. Adjust height for ½ the distance of the misalignment from flush. Be as accurate as possible.

3. Set fence back from leading edge of bit an equal distance to the stock thickness. This should produce a knife edge when cut.

4. Perform test cut to make sure bit is set up evenly. A good way to ensure that the cut is centered properly is to measure each 45° plane. If each plane is the exact same length, the cutter is properly centered. (See A=B)

5. With stock cut to size, cut side A with material cut horizontally.

6. With stock cut to size, cut side B with material cut vertically. If snipe occurs at end of cut, it may be due to excessive pressure against fence or table. you can use double-face tape to secure a guide strip to the side of both A and B. This will serve as a guide against the fence and table. you should not have to re-adjust the fence location to allow for the scrap.

Visit www.woodline.com for the latest tips and instructions.

REvERSIBlE gluE JOINTUse this bit to edge join materials with a maximum gluing surface for table-tops or large panels. The slight taper aids in aligning the boards by drawing the surfaces together to produce per-fectly aligned faces on jointed surfaces with no squeeze-out.

Super Pads

Toll Free Ordering 1-877-287-5017

An innovative design, the Use-it SuperPad is a paper disc perforated across its entire surface. This allows the sanding dust that is produced to be removed by suction across the entire surface. The 3/32” foam layer in between the sandpaper and the backing allows for cooler sanding, and additional dust collection keeping even more dust from floating around. These discs outlast most regular discs. Available in 5” and 6” discs fitting any hole pattern hook and loop orbital sander. Grit selection from 80 grit to 600 grit. Assorted package includes 80, 120, 180, 240 and 320 grits.

Super Finishing PadsThe Superfinishing Pad allows flexibility and the finest grits available for super fine finish sanding. With its’ 3/16” foam layer within, the dust will collect within the pad rather than spread across your project. Combined with dust extraction, automotive and boat builders will find these discs nearly eliminate dust coming off

the sander, therefore maintaining cleaner air and a cleaner surface for the next coat. Woodworkers will enjoy this material for in between coat sanding, finish sanding on carvings, and because of the tremendous flexibility, woodturners will appreciate the finish they can achieve without heat build up, on spindles and bowls. Because of the price, these discs are certainly not going to replace

existing sanding discs but will be the standard for high end cabinet makers and master craftsmen. They are just too good not to have some of these discs in your shop to supplement your existing sanding methods. Available in 5” and 6” discs fitting any hole pattern hook and loop orbital sander. a tip from Paul...To Replace a worn out

Hook & Loop Pad

Remove worn Hook & Loop Conversion, or original

hook and loop pad. When disc is removed, wash

pad with laquer thinner before applying new

conversion.or

If pad will not come off simply remove sandpaper

from your sander, place a 9 x 11 sheet of sandpaper

on your work bench, grit up, and sand off worn out

hook and loops until pad is smooth. Wash with

laquer thinner to remove any dust and stick on new

conversion disc.

a tip from Paul...How to use the conversion system on your 1/4

No need to remove the backing. Simply clip the

conversion into your sander like you “used” to do

with your sandpaper and then cut a piece of our special 4-1/2” wide

stearate coated sandpaper roll and you’ll have the added time saving

convenience when changing grits or starting a fresh sheet.

Hook and Loop Back-up Pads Made of a high density sponge, these 2” and 3” diameter flexible hook and loop sanders are really gaining popularity, especially with woodturners. Using premium Klingspor discs, you can get right into the bottom of bowls, small vessels or all kinds of hard to sand areas and sand a finish you’ll be amazed

with. For even greater flexibility, consider adding a 2” or 3” Flex Adapter (see pg. 22). (See page 21 for 2” and 3” Hook and Loop Discs). The 5” Firm Hook and Loop Back-up Pad has an 1/8” layer of foam and a ¼” shank. Can be used in the same way as the 2” and 3” as well as with a flex adapter (see pg. 22). (See page 21 for 5” Hook and Loop Discs)

Graphite ClothUse this heavy canvas backed graphite on the platen of your sander (the flat part of your sander, covered by a belt and used as a work area). The slippery surface of the graphite greatly reduces the friction causing heat build up and will also decrease the drag on your belt sander motor and bearings. We provide extra long pieces that can be easily cut to fit any sander. Pads can be attached with double faced tape, contact cement, spray adhesive, or screwed in place. Graphite cloth is usually difficult to find, but we always have this in stock for you! Order some and try it out.

Abrasive Cleaning BlockEventually all belts go dull, but with the use of a cleaner you will greatly extend their life by removing some of the dust and varnish that plug them prematurely. To use this 2”x2”x8” crepe block, push cleaner over belt or disc as it is turning. One block will last a very long time with normal use. A must for EVERY workshop.

Item # Item Description Price

Z00010 Abrasive Cleaning Block $10.95

Z00015 Belt Dressing Lubricant $15.00

Belt Dressing LubricantThis grease stick is recommended for all belt polishing operations - on all metals plastics and glass. It is great for sharpening and shaping knives and chisels, as it will help reduce heat caused by friction on their fine edges. When applied to the belt, the grease spreads out thinly and remains wet on the belt, while providing lubrication by penetrating the coated abrasive surface. It will extend the life of the belt by preventing clogging while leaving the abrasive grit free to cut cleanly and smoothly.

a tip from Paul... Belt Storage

Abrasives should be kept away from windows

and any direct heat source. They should not

be stored on concrete floors or near any area

of dampness. Ideal conditions for storage is at

a temperature range of 60*F to 80*F (or 18*C

to 26*C). High humidity may cause creasing,

loading and premature grit loss, while low

humidity may cause product brittleness and

lack of flexibility. Belts can be stored in original

plastic wrap until ready for use or sealed in an

airtight container.

a tip from Paul...A 1” Mini Mop is best used on a small, variable speed rotary

tool (ie: Dremel) being run at half speed, while 1-1/2” Mini

Mops are best used in larger variable speed rotary tools (ie:

Foredom) being run at half speed.

a tip from Paul...As with the Sanding mops, Mini Mops need

to be broken in before use. Hold the Mini

Mop into a scrap piece of wood just long

enough for the sandpaper to soften. This

will assist in maintaining the detail of your

piece.

Due to the slip of a screwdriver and a cut to his hand, P.L. Robertson was inspired to invent the square-head or “Robertson” woodscrew. Robertson was born and raised in Haldimand County, interestingly, just minutes

from Stockroom Supply. He invented the screw in 1908 and was often heard to say “it was the biggest little invention of the twentieth century”. We are proud of this Canadian inventor!

Fact: 85% of the wood screws sold in Canada are Robertson, while only 10% of the woodscrews sold in the US are Robertson.

Cost BenefitOne of the big concerns for wood workers when buying a new tool is the cost. Not only does The Little Ripper allow you to set up your own sawmill for under $500.00 (if you already own a bandsaw), it is going to save you a substantial amount of money. Let’s face it, wood is expensive. Even the most common pine and maple can add up before you know it. We won’t even mention the exotic woods! With the price of wood today, wouldn’t it be nice to have something to offset the cost a little? Did you know - within 4 hours of using your Little Ripper to mill your own logs, you can have the entire unit paid off with the custom wood you have created. Now that is an affordable tool!

Features • Use Common yard trees (i.e. Lilac, Crab Apple, Birch) in your projects• .Logs, burls, and crotch wood gripped securely• .Adjusts to become a taper jig• .5/8” 3tpi blade cuts wet and green wood• .Cut quarter-sawn lumber and book matched boards• .Adapts to many shop tools (works in any ¾” x 3/8” mitre slot)• .Accessories increase log capacity to 14” diameter and 50” length
