Create an AccountCreating an account is free and easy. Go to www.storybird.com and click on the blue

“Sign up for free” button at the top right of the screen. You will then pick the type of consumer you are from a list which includes

Regular, Educator, and Student as some of the options.

Create an Account You will then set up your username, email (optional for students), and password.

Dashboard – Write

Storybird provides the artistic inspiration. You provide the writing!

Forms include the following:•Picture Books (several pages)•Longform Books (several chapters)•Poems (one page)

Steps from Writing Dashboard:•Select art for background•Pick format for writing •Write•Save and even publish your story

You can gain feedback on your writing as well as collaborate with other writers!

Dashboard – Read

Storybird creates a virtual library at your fingertips!

Items you can read:•Poems•Stories•Blog

How to Explore/Search:•By Categories•By Age Range•By Format•By “Popular” or “New”

Find your favorite Storybird authors and comment on their stories or “follow” them to see more of their work!

Dashboard – You

Your dashboard provides helpful tools:

•Your stuff (writing, drafts)•Bookshelf (what you are reading)•Following (authors you follow)•Settings•FAQ •And More (you can even purchase print editions of what you create)

Dashboard – Studio

This section of the Dashboard is a teacher’s best friend!

What does your studio contain?

•Review, Edit, and Update Classes•Review Student Work•Review Assignments•Moderate Comments to your Class•View the Blog

All of your classes and the students’ work will be viewed through the Dashboard Studio. It is user friendly and well organized.

Create a Class From the Dashboard Studio click on the blue “Classes” tab. From the dropdown box which appears, click “Add a Class.” The class settings are

also located here.

Create a Class

To add a class, you will decide a Class Name and a Class Grade Level before you click the blue “Add Class” button.

Add Students to Class

Once a class has been created under the Dashboard Studio, use the blue “Students” tab to manage, add, invite, or move students. From this tab you can create students’ usernames, passwords, and receive a code for students to join a class.

Manage Students in ClassThe “Manage Students” section is important for teachers. This section allows you to view student work, the

login record, number of visits, and edit student accounts using the “gear” symbol under “Actions.” Teachers can edit passwords, usernames, and status in the class.

Create Assignment

From the Dashboard studio, use the blue “Assignment” tab under classes to create assignments. The tabs are blue on each page and labeled for easy use. Click on the “Create an Assignment” tab to create assignment details.

To create an assignment, you will fill in the boxes for assignment name, description, artwork students may use, the format, and the due date. Once all boxes are filled, you will click the blue “Save Assignment” at the bottom of the page.
