Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14 The Palms that were distributed on Palm Sunday and kept in our homes as a witness to faith in Jesus Christ can be returned to the church on February 3,.4 or 10 &11. They will be burned for the ashes that will be signed on our foreheads on Ash Wednesday. The box for collecting the Palms will be placed by the Rural Street middle doors. Changing Lives Forever Workshop At SPN-March 2018 The Society of St Vincent de Paul offers a free program to individuals in Poverty who want to Change their Lives for the better and leave poverty. This program involves a commitment to attend a three hour session each week for 18 weeks with 13 other peo-ple. Supplies are provided. The first workshop at SPN started in August 2017 and 12 people have finished the program and “graduated” on January 4, 2018 The next workshop will start March 3, 2018. This is a Saturday and it will start at noon and end at 3 PM. Inquiry forms with fur-ther information are in the back of the Church on a card that can be given to anyone who you know who may be interested. A per-son interested must attend one of two Orientations-either Feb 17 or 24 starting at noon with lunch. They can call either the busi-ness office of SPN at 317-631-8746 or Joe Doll at 317-919-1419 or [email protected] to reserve a space. Graduates of this program are offered a Mentor who will coach the graduate-one on one for a minimum of 6 hrs. per month for one year. Training is offered to Mentors and WE DO NEED MENTORS (volunteers). If interested contact Al Whitehead 1-574-322-2905; [email protected] for further information.
St. Vincent de Paul – Changing Lives Program
Have you ever thought about mentoring as a ministry? The Society of St Vincent de Paul offers a free program to individuals in Poverty who want to Change their Lives for the better and leave pov-erty. This program involves a commitment to attend a three hour session each week for 18 weeks with 13 other people. Supplies are provided. The Society provides two trained Facilitators to conduct the sessions. The St. Philip Neri Conference of SVdP will offer the program here starting March 3.
For this program to be successful we desperately need volunteers to be MENTORS to those asking for support after they graduate in July 2018. Think about becoming a Mentor to someone who has worked hard for 18 weeks to develop a plan to improve their life and only needs your ad-vice six hours per month (you set the times) for one year. It only takes 4 hours for your being trained. For further information about being Mentor-pick-up the information card in the back of the Church.

Lenten Scripture Reflection Groups Lent begins on Wednesday, February 14 and the first Sunday of Lent is February 18. Bautismo– Padres y Padrinos necesitan asistir a una clase de preparaciòn el tercer sàbado de cada mes de 8:45AM-12:30PM en la planta baja de la escuela. (En diciembre no hay clase). ************* Baptism - Parents and godparents need to attend a class for baptism preparation. They are held the third Saturday of the month from 8:45 AM-12:30 PM on the ground floor of the school. Discovering Christ is a seven week series,designed to give participants an opportunity to learn more about Jesus and to develop a more personal rela-tionship with Him.
