The aims of the project are; (a) to establish the researcher network to set up strategic
placement of Traditional Pharmacognosy of Thailand and China for the development of Regional Herbal Treasury,
(b) to seek for budget support from Thailand and China to proceed on the strategic placement plan,
(c) to push forward the Regional Herbal Treasury strategic plan into National Strategic Plan or as part of any International Herbal Strategic Plan, and
(d) to seek for cooperation of professional personals from institution of Thailand and China.
How could the project be?Phase 1 Herbs would be identified, using science and technology, to get the resemblance species in which could be used in substitution to original species; Phase 2 Lab-animal testing and human trials on the resemblance species; Phase 3 Presentation to public and small scale production to test the pilot planting and herbal production; Phase 4 To expand the raw material production to SME and big agroindustry.http://www.hse.ie/eng/about/Who/healthwellbeing/Our-Priority-Programmes/HEAL/steps-to-health-challenge-for-workplace-teams-2017.html
Step 1 Selection of Chinese – Thai resemblance herbs(1) Thai-Chinese Trading agencies(2) Thai-Chinese Herbs books
We estimate 20-25% of the total 3,000 species of the Thai herbs which means 600-700 species to be identified in the 5 steps and the same number of resemblance species from China added up to more than 1,000 species to be investigated.
Step 2 Plant morphological taxonomy
Step 3 Activity investigation

Project Summary
(1) We have established the researcher network to set up strategic placement of Traditional Pharmacognosy of Thailand and China for the development of Regional Herbal Treasury. Researchers of around 10 persons are from the Thai academic institutions. They are working in cooperation according to the strategic plan. This is the first year of conscientiously work in cooperation with progression and the successful is not yet very close.
(2) Seek for budget support from Thailand and China to proceed on the strategic placement plan. In this 1st year, the academic year of 2017, we have been supported from the Thai government through the 2 grant authorities; the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC) and the National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (NSTIPO). The continuous support to this project is positive progress to the work. We also open to any possible assists and cooperation from any Chinese institution.
(3) Pushing forward the Regional Herbal Treasury strategic plan into National Strategic Plan or as part of any International Herbal Strategic Plan. This is our ultimate hope, because we have foreseen the bright side of the alternative traditional medicine in which integrate in both the Thai Traditional Pharmacognosy and Chinese Traditional Pharmacognosy. The Regional Herbal Treasury would be the important step to that decisive goal.
(4) Seek for cooperation of professional personals from institution of Thailand and China. We found that there are so many professional personals in both the Thai Traditional Pharmacognosy and Chinese Traditional Pharmacognosy. We found that there are many big Chinese companies develop their products from their own research laboratories, production plants and marketing to sell their product worldwide. We also met many Chinese professionals in academic institutions. We target to raise our cooperation to those professional resources and hope to work in cooperation with them.
