Overview

The Fifth National Medicaid Congress comesat a time of great turmoil and great promisein health care. A new Administration is

committed to real change but also faced with seriouschallenges. At a time when there is a serious desirefor meaningful health care reform, full children’shealth coverage, health care IT investment, andenhanced Medicaid funding, the ObamaAdministration also must wrestle with a staggeringFederal budget deficit, soaring health care costs, little or no bipartisanship, and a difficult andunforeseen “Plan B” in health reform. At the Statelevel, where budgets must be balanced, policymak-ers are finding it hard not to make steep cuts inMedicaid benefits or provider payments as theystruggle to make up for lost revenues of overwhelm-ing proportions. More than ever, the country needsideas that work, and the National MedicaidCongress will highlight the best models and thebest new thinking from the field as well as from Washington.

Join national policy and industry leaders for the Fifth National Medicaid Congress, June 7-9, 2010, in Washington, DC — www.MedicaidCongress.com.This engaging three-day session will feature twotimely and informative preconferences on dual eligi-bles and the medical home, followed by two full daysof plenary and concurrent sessions. For the first time, the Medicaid Congress will also be streamed live overthe Internet to make it more accessible to state agen-cies and not-for-profit organizations with limitedtravel budgets.
