Dear Parents/ Caregivers, This week we celebrate Catholic Education Week throughout the archdiocese. It is the time to reflect on, and appreciate, all that is good about Catholic schools and give thanks for the blessings that brings. We will gather as a whole school on Thurs-day at 9.30 am in the church for our school celebration. All parents and friends are warmly invited to come along and join us. Sports Carnival Last Friday saw the running of the longer races, 800 metres, with some great efforts made. We continue with 200m heats and finals this Thursday afternoon for Year 3-7 starting at 1.30 pm. Those who would like to come and support are very welcome. Friday is when most of the other events will take place. It is always a day full of fun and keen competition. Again, you are most wel-come to come and join in the day. Tuck shop will operate during the breaks to pro-vide food and drinks. May the best team win! Lap-a-thon Thanks for your support so far. The lap-a-
thon happens on Friday, 15th August. We need your help to raise as much money as we can for your children. Can you get any sponsors/ donations from work? Every dollar will help! Learning Teams Assemblies For this term, these assemblies, looking to recognize and acclaim good efforts and achievement, start up tomorrow afternoon at 2.40 pm. Parents are wel-come to join in these celebrations of learning. Sacramental Programme Please hold in your prayers our children who will receive the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation next Sun-day. This wonderful occasion will be led by Bishop Brian Finnegan again this year. We congratulate all these families who are giving strong witness to their faith. Markus says that kindness
builds positive
RELATIONSHIPS!! What is Kindness?
Kindness is being concerned about the welfare of others. Kindness is showing
you care about anyone or anything that crosses your path, knowing that
everything is a part of God’s creation. You can be kind to people, to animals,
and to the environment. Kindness means to care for others
and the earth as much or more than you care about yourself.
You are practising Kindness when you …
• Notice when someone or something needs care.
• Think of things that would make others happy.
• Remember your connection to all of God’s creation.
Virtue of the Week: Kindness
• Last Thursday, 24 July, a number of students from Year 3 and some other classes received
the Sacrament of Reconciliation. They continue their preparation for receiving the
sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist on either Sunday 3 August or Sunday
17August. Please pray for these students at this important time!
• Our first whole school celebration this term will be on Thursday 31 July when we celebrate Catholic
Education Week. The theme this year is “Come live life in all its fullness”. During this week we will engage the students in a range of activities.
• School Athletics Carnival this Friday, 1 August.
• Ekka Public Holiday is on Wednesday 13 August, so no school on this day.
• Our Lap-a-thon will be on Friday 15 August.
• Book Week runs during Week 6 starting on 18 August.
• St Vinnies Sleepover will be held on Friday night 12 September. Money and permission forms need to be
returned as soon as possible.

Lunch
To celebrate Catholic Education Week and promote the
importance of the home/school relationship, the Prep
classes held a healthy eating morning. The
children and their parents created fruit kebabs,
sandwich snails, rice paper rolls and much
more. We were also lucky enough to have
Michele Binstadt from C&K to show us how
to use Story Sacks to encourage reading and
oral language. Thank you to all who attend-
ed and helped with the day. The children
had a fantastic time sharing this with you.

St Mark’s Lap-a-thon on Friday 15th August Research shows the “proven benefit” of exercise: • Increases serotonin in the brain which improves brain clarity.
• Helps you to relax and de-stress.
• Gives you plenty of energy.
• Helps your body prevent diseases like high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes.
• Pumps more blood around your body and helps you eat more.
• Plenty of exercise during the day helps you rest well at night.
This is a great opportunity for our children to increase their exercise and improve on their general
wellbeing. PLEASE come and support your child this Friday 1st August at their sports day! Your child’s fitness level improves, child earns a prize for the money they collected and the
school can purchase extra learning resources OR improve a learning space. ALL THIS BENEFITS YOUR CHILD!
