Factors to consider
o most of us Facebook friendship is
fleeting and borderline meaningless. But that doesn't mean rejection andbetrayal don't sting when you areunfriended (which by the way, is not areal word It's something that stuck on,
just like Facebook itself!).Getting dumped is horrible, painful, andguaranteed to happen. And here's isSblog's fix on how to handle adevastating digital breakup.
It's possible you're really goddamnannoying on Facebook - lots of stupidshared "joke pictures," confrontationalpolitical statements, mundane check-
ins - in which case, who can blameanyone for unfriending you? You're aterrible friend. Friends should beinteresting. Why weren't you moreinteresting? You brought this uponyourself, and now everyone is runningaway from you. Start being better andyou'll start making friends. That's yourbest shot. But let's say you're just a regular guybeing cool on Facebook - posting theoccasional fun photo, insightful link, amusing status update, thoughtfulbirthday wishes. You manage your
Timeline like a pro! You're a goodperson, and a good Facebook Friend.
And, someone still unfriends you. Youhave reason to be offended. Whenfriendship means so, so precious little, taking the time to click enough toremove someone from your list of fakefriends is hugely insulting. You'rebeneath fake friendship. Someonedoesn't even want to see your namewritten down on an LCD screen. You'rerepulsive to them. Unfriending onFacebook is like being kicked out of the
cricket team just because you missedthat one catch! But, don't forget:
It's a normal, perfectly rational thingpeople do on Facebook all the time.
Most of your hundreds of Facebookfriends aren't actually your friends, because it's emotionally impossible fora single person to have hundreds off r iends s imul taneous ly . Be ingunfriended might be someone simplywaking up and recognizing theabsurdity Facebook thrusts us into. They're just attempting to rectify it, usingfeatures built into said social network.
And yet...We're all petty enough to care.
If it's someone you actually know afamily friend, friend of a friend, someperipheral talking blob - you probablyshouldn't make a fuss. Particularly, ifthey're connected to someone who isactually important in your life, it's best to
just let the affront slide. But some day, whenever the two of youmeet in person again, you'll briefly lockeyes. I know what you did, and youknow what you did. It's a moment of
mutual panic, guilt, and animus. That'llquickly subside, and you'll go about yourlives. Who knows, maybe you'll bothend up forgetting the whole thing. Youmight even friend one another again.
And so the cycle continues.
Or, if you feel like a fight

VOICE OF KINNAIRD
After the success of Pink Rock and KC
Idol, the council of K.C staged the much
awaited Voice of Radio Kinnaird. This
was another milestone achieved by the
council. The student body immersed
themselves in the dazzling world of
music where their own fellows got a
chance to perform and showcase their
exemplary singing talents. It started off
with nerve cracking week of auditions
and recording at radio Kinnaird 97.6.
During the entire week every corner of
KC was echoing with instruments. You
could hear sounds of all types of music
being played.
Like any other competition few lucky girls
managed to squeeze themselves into
the finals. They got that great opportunity
of performing in front of some Junaid
Khan (Cal l The Band) , Gohar
Mumtaz(Jal) and Ali Aftab (of Begairat
Brigade). The event started with the line
"Stay Calm and Enjoy Music". Every
participant gave their best shot to toast
their victory but it ended up with Hafsah
Gillani taking the trophy. Hafsah is a
multi-talented girl, really good at guitars
and singing. The council worked really
hard to organize the event and did an
amazing job. (by mahrukh ghouri)

Earlier this summer, NCA, Rawalpindi
Campus hosted a welcome for the fresh
batch of students that arrived in this year.
Organized by veteran students the event
was packed with performances from all 5
batches. These included slots filled by
the skits society which flawlessly
depicted college culture and highlighted
memorable incidents that had occurred
during the term, as well as by the music
society who melodically captivated the
audience. Highlight of the evening was
definitely both the fashion show which
exhibited recycled "gaga-esque"
creations, modelled on fast paced beats
with choreographed segments in-
between, and the insanely well produced
play "Ali baba baki chor". Though an
adaptation of the folk story the 30 minute
long performance was original and well-timed with its comedy and punch lines, it
was not only well received with a standing
ovation by the entire student body, but
later produced to be performed for the
public at the national library auditorium.
Other performances included an electric
dance performance by the newly formed
dance society, Shutterbug. There were
also other dance performances, one of
which being a dramatic contemporary
piece.

Not necessarily. Whether you're
in a class of 250 or 1,000, you'll have
to meet a lot of new people when
you go off to college it's what
freshman year is all about. But even
if you're shy, you can benefit at any

No matter what size you choose, I
predict you'll start meeting people,
making friends, and from there,
things should start falling into place.
If you are going abroad, I just
wouldn't suggest you go to a
suitcase school, where making
friends is harder since students are
mostly locals who go home a lot. (Ask
admissions if this happens.)
I can tell you one thing; I ha

A debating competition isn't asimportant for most people in ourcountry, as Pakistan vs. Australia T-20 tournament or Aisam-ul-HaqQureshi being in the semi-finals ofthe US Open. But for thoseinvolved in this great sport and art,it is of tremendous importance.Debating in Pakistan is not a mainstream event as such, but one that isrestricted to certain schools anduniversities throughout most
major cities. But, the DebatingSociety of Pakistan is trying tochange this one step at a time; andthey recently took a major leaptowards achieving this goal by
winning the Karl Popper DebatingChampionship (KPDC) in Leon,Mexico. The Karl Popper DebatingChampionship is one of the largesthigh school tournaments in the
world, which is a wing of the
International Debate EducationAssociation (IDEA). It bringstogether teams from all fivecontinents to debate on a mix of
prepared and impromptu motionsconnected to the topic of the YouthForum. The tournament featuressix preliminary rounds and a breakto octo-finals. The format of thecompetition is the Karl Popperformat, which involves two teamsof three speakers. The three

wonderful people we met there. For Azeem, Daniyal and I, the tripstarted out as an adventure because
we had to travel to Dubai to get avisa from the Mexican embassythere. Fortunately, we got it easilyand from there we planned ongoing from London to Mexico. Atthe last moment, we found out that
we would not be able to transit at
London, since we didn't have atransit visa. We were stopped fromthe boarding the plan and we spentthe night at Dubai airport, and
were then rerouted to Sao Paulo,Brazil! After a fourteen hour flightfrom Brazil, we took a nine hourflight to Mexico City and fromthere we journeyed for an hour toLeon. Ahmed remembers theirluggage being lost in one of thetransit flights and they all arrived at
the first round with nothing towear. Even their trip back was aninteresting ride, taking them fromMexico City, Pananma, Rio de

There is no better feelingin the world, than the feeling whichcomes from representing yournat ion and winning at aninternational forum. I feltextremely proud of my country andI am honored that I was given thischance.Besides debating, Ahmed is
passionate about cric ket. My

debating more before he can go on
to call himself a good debater.
Zainab Hamid was born inKarachi, Pakistan, before shemoved to Brighton, UK at the ageof three. She lived there until theage of about ten, and then movedback to Pakistan and joinedK a r a c h i G r a m m a r S c h o o l .
Currently, Zainab is in eleventhgrade, in her last year of O' Levels. As far as debating goes, Zainabstarted debating almost a year ago.During Middle School, she hadn'tbeen very lucky with the debates tryouts, but when she tried out last
year she go t int o the und ernineteen team as an observer. Thesame year, she spoke at the underseventeen nationals, where she wasranked as the best speaker. Zainab
recalls this moment as one whichshe will never forget during herdebating career. I remember my
very first speech at the preparationcamp before the nationals, which
was not very good. After a while Igot better, and when given theopportunity in the under seventeennationals, I was really able to honemy skills and managed to get thebest speaker award. Around thesame time, Zainab found out that
the top ten speakers from thenationals were going to be eligibleto be part of the team that wouldrepresent Pakistan at KPDC.Zainab recalls her experience atKPDC saying, My experience atMexico made for one of the besttrips of my life. Pakistan had neversent a team to the world youthforum, so this was the first time. Togo for the first time, and leave amark like we hope we did, is truly
amazing. But, one thing that I willnever forget is the people I met, andthe time I shared with them. Wemet people from all over the world, from Estonia, to Canada, fromArgentina to Egypt. Meetingchildren from the Tunisian andEgyptian teams, was definitely aneye opening experience for me, as I
was able to receive first handinsight regarding the Arab Spring. She further adds, We're so happy
we were able to represent our
country. The majority of peoplewere never really expecting us to dothat well, and so, we feel, indisproving them, we were able toclarify a lot of misconceptions
people have about Pakistan. Onone hand we're grateful that we

The rules of attraction(or, How to Make Everyone Want You Bad)
Some people seem to get whoever they want and starting now, that can be you!You know how when you're at home getting ready to go somewhere, youstart daydreaming about your entrance? In your head, you're dressed likeyou're headed to Lux Style Awards After party the moment you walkthrough that front door, every head turns to check you out. Tonight you'vegot it going on!It's a rush to be the center of attention to be a certified magnet. And yeah, itmight seem like some people are just born with it, like they don't even haveto blink to make someone drool. But the truth is, being that person isn'tabout looking a certain way or fitting into one narrow definition of sexy. It'sabout tapping into the hard and fast rules that draw someone in everytime. With a little advance training in the secret signals everyone responds
to, they'll flock to you!
RULE#1 Send the right signals
You don't have to send a text to make sure your crushis getting your messages!
COME TALK TO ME.When your eyes catch your crush's,avert your gaze after one or two seconds. IT makes youlook a little shy like you're semi-embarrassed that theycaught you looking which will actually make your crushfeel less nervous about approaching you.
I'M REALL INTO YOU.Run your hands through your hair, but turn your palm outwards towards your crush. This smalltricky gesture makes your body more open, which signalsthat you're receptive to their attention. (Just don't overdo it,or you'll seem fidgety.)Reader rule
While you are dancing at a mehndi or a party, lookyour crush in the eye, smile and raise your eyebrows alittle bit almost like you're inviting them to comecloser. It works like a charm! Rohail Lashari, 21
RULE #2 Appeal to the senses
Science doesn't like these are proven ways youdrive your crush wild.
Sound Weird but true; when you're having a one-onconversation, talking into the right ear will help you conwith the side of the brain that controls happiness.Taste Many people are proven to be attracted to the of cinnamon, so offer to go to Cinnabon or a good
Italian food place.Touch Physical contact stimulates oxytocin, a hormthat puts people at ease. The hands and finger tipssome of the most sensitive parts of a body, so gebrushing your crush's hand will literally help you conneSight Guys' brains are more responsive to visual stthan girls' are. So catch some eyes or sights, and mabig impact.Smell - The nose is directly tied to the part of the brainprocesses attraction. Just a tip; Vanilla and Lavendegood turn ons.
