Chapter’s Current Activities
1. Our Chapter vote the new Vice President Mr.Bo Gao , because the former Vice
President Suijing graduate and leave BIT. 2. On 16-24 May, 2007 ,the Doctoral Forum of Information Science and
Technology was held in our university. The subject of “Optical Engineering” was sponserd by our Chapter. Some other members as the volunteer attended all the activities.
3. Some doctor student members shared and read their papers in the Chapter Academic Salon.
4. With the help from the Graduate School of BIT, We invite Professor Chen Ning Yang, who has received the Nobel Prize for Physics with Tsung Dao Lee in 1957 and numerous other awards and honorary degrees give us a lectuere about the development of science and technology in the 21st century.
5. Our Chapter organized all the members and other 70 graduates of the School of Information Science and Technology (SIST) BIT attended the 10th China Beijing International High-tech Expo.
6. Professor Feijun Song (SPIE Fellow) gave a lecture about the status of Optics development in China and the career of graduate students for the members of our Chapter and many students of our school.
7. With our Chapter，the ADI (Anolog Device) company has gave a wonderful presentation about their new products in our university and offered a great opportunity for the students who are interested in the IC and DSP design.
8. We invited Professor Liwei Zhou , the ademician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the Chief Scientist of BIT, to give graduate students some advice on the methods of research in the field of Optics.
9. Professor Feng Xin, the lifetime Professor of Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, give us a Lecture about the Craft of Starting a Research Project and Technical Writing – A Chinese Perspective. And other two professors of Marquette University also make a wonderful lecture about their research.
Future Activities
1. Participation in Optics & Photonics and 52st Annual Meeting 2007 25 August -

31 August, San Diego, CA, USA. 2. Prepare for the International Symposium on Photoelectronic Detection and
Imaging: Technology and Applications 2007 , Sponsored by SPIE, China Ordnance Society and BIT, which will hold in China on 9-12 September 2007,eapecially orgnize volunteers for the conference.
3. Prepare to attend the Optoelectronic Industry Expo (Beijing) & China International Lasers, Optoelectronics and Photonics Exhibition (ILOPE)，organized by COEMA and CIEC and supported by CCPIT and the Ministry of Information Industry.
4. Prepare to attend the Photonics Asia 11-15 November,China. 5. Keep contact with some famous companies in the field of Optics. 6. Prepare to communicate with the officers of the new founded SPIE Student
Chapter in China and have a seminar in our department. 7. Prepare to design our chapter web site. 8. We are going to invite renowned persons in the field of optics and photonics to
deliver talks in his/her field of research. 9. Continue to give different lectures in optics during our meetings. 10. Continue to visiting local companies to encourage internship, locate jobs for
chapter members, and get in touch with latest advances in industry developments.
11. Maintain close relations, interchange experience and plan common activities with other SPIE chapters around the world.
