In recent years, college students’ mental health has become a greater concern on campuses across the country as their experiences are significantly more complex than in previous generations. Students must balance their academic responsibilities with employment, family, and other relationships. This juggling act can take a toll on their mental health, and if gone unaddressed, can lead to distress and dangerous behaviors. The District recognizes that mental health challenges are treatable and students dealing with these challenges can be successful throughout their college years and beyond. This report presents a proposal to better serve students whose learning is impacted, in part, by mental health issues. It is informed by data, aligns with the District’s Strategic Plan, and is the result of the work of a broad base of key stakeholders including staff, faculty, administrative leaders and students.
