Student workshop as a successful method of project-based learning in higher education study

Purpose of the presentation• to show how we use PBL in teaching process
• an analysis of the implementation of project learning at UL FGG in the field of spatial planning in the last 18 years
• highlight the strengths and weaknesses of PBL for both, teachers and students
• to show that the PBL method can be successfully introduced into the implementation of higher education programs regardless of whether it is or not formally included in the curriculum of study program

How do student workshops actually take place?

• We define the starting points of the task / problem
• Content frame and time milestones (phases)
• Working process (fieldwork, work at college, work at home, use of data and ICT, etc.)
• Cooperation: municipality-faculty, mentors-students
• Final product (publication, posters, exhibition and presentation, etc.)

PBL as part of the curriculum of masterstudy programs
On the basis of good PBL experience, UL FGG project work was also introduced
in the curricula of master study programs of spatial planning, geodesy and geoinformatics and construction.
