Planning starts with impartial advice

Right from the beginning, any successful project depends on careful planning. As independent consultants,

LSI Projects can evaluate all available technical options, and provide a source of expert advice, gained from years of

practical experience. Working closely with all parties, including architects, engineers and main contractors, LSI provides

consultancy support to develop a proposal that meets the client’s brief and objectives, a proposal that is both

realisable and within the permitted budget.

Developing the technical specification

Starting from the user’s operational preferences for the studio, LSI then ensure these working practices can be

accommodated within the constraints of the building. From an analysis of the building structure, appropriate suspension

loadings are calculated, electrical power requirements established and the impact of these on air conditioning loads

evaluated – all resulting in a detailed technical specification for a complete lighting and suspension system.

Total design capability

From initial site evaluation, through system integration and implementation to final handover to the client, there is

constant attention to detail by the LSI staff of professionally qualified engineers. Engineers, all with many years of

practical experience in the television and film industries, who are able to translate client requirements into design

Final checks and commissioning

the installation stages. But it doesn’t end there. LSI’s engineers fully test and commission all aspects of the

lighting and suspension systems, once installed, ready for handover to the studio operations team.

Bringing the design into reality

From the time that installation work starts on site, LSI’s Management team are there to seamlessly provide

the transition from the planning and design stage into realising a fully operational studio. Ensuring that

progress is maintained according to plan, that specifications are met, solving any unforeseen day-to-day

issues and keeping the programme on track by on-site liaison with the client, architects, building

contractors, engineers and installers.

Going live

Only when fully satisfied that the installed lighting and suspension system meets the agreed operational

performance is the studio finally ready for handover. But this is not the end of LSI Projects’ involvement.

Our training staff ensure that operators are fully conversant with all aspects of the lighting and suspension

system that has been installed. In addition engineering training and full technical documentation are provided,

ensuring ‘in-house’ capabilities for first line maintenance support.
