Outdoor Education, Excursions and ActivitiesStudentsineveryyearlevelattendanannualcamp.IfyouareatWestMACatthistimeyouwillparticipateinthecampprogram.Youmayalsoattendexcursionsthatarepartofthecurriculumfordifferentsubjects.Theremaybeopportunitiestoattendexcursionsthathavebeenorganisedforvisitingoverseasgroups.Therewillbenoadditionalchargeforparticipationintheseactivities.

UniformIfyouattendaschoolthathasauniformyoumaywearitwhilestudyingatWestMAC.IfyouarestudyingattheCollegeformorethanoneterm,youwillberequiredtopurchaseaWestMACuniform.Theuniformshophassecondhanditemsandtherealsosomeloanitemsavailable(dependingonsize).

TransportTheaveragetraveltimetoschoolis25minutes.Somestudentscatchaschoolbus,otherscatchthetraintoKarrabinStationandashuttlebustoschool.Somefamiliesdrivetheirchildren/studentstoschool.

HomestayWestMACoperatesahighqualityhomestayprogramforinternationalstudents.

VolunteersprovidinghomestayservicestotheCollegeareboundbytheWorkingwithChildren(RiskManagementandScreening)Act2000andWorkingwithChildren(RiskManagementandScreening)Regulation2011.

All host families who participate in the College homestay program are required to undergo a rigorous selection process including a NationalpolicecheckandStudentProtectiontraining.

SuitableapplicantsareissuedwithaPositiveNoticeandaBlueCard.Everymemberofthehostfamilywhoisover18mustholdacurrentBlueCardthatislinkedtotheCollege.

Hostfamiliesandhomestaystudentsareregularlymonitoredtoensuretheplacementissuitable.

• Single occupancy bedroom (and linen)• Comfortable and safe home• 3 meals and snacks• Laundry• Assistance to attend sport and other activities• Study facilities—this may be a desk in the bedroom or a study area in the home• Most families have internet• Families who do not have internet will assist students to purchase appropriate plans• Local sightseeing• Kindandcaringenvironment

Homestay OfficerMissPaulineisthefulltimehomestayofficer.Greatcareistakentomatcheachstudentwiththehostfamilythatismostsuitable.Eachstudentisprovidedwithtwo24houremergencynumbers.MissPaulineisavailabletoassiststudentswithanyissuestheymayexperienceinhomestay.
