For high temperature areas is only on choice: R134a

EU regulations are requiring replacement of R22The choice of replacement is R407C, R410A, or R134a

Stulz is using R407C as standard refrigerant since 2000

Extensive tests have shown that there are significant benefits with air conditioning systems using R410A

Stulz offers them all

Except when you order product they deliver units with R22

As an option or as an SFA

Refrigerant R407CRefrigerant R407CRefrigerant R407C

standard refrigerant since 2000

AdvantagesThe vapour pressure curve and the volumetricenthalpy of R407C are similar to those of R-22.-> R407C can be used in many instances with equipment originally designed for R-22.

R407C

52% R134a

25% R125

23% R32

Disadvantages• Any refrigerant loss will make it necessary to empty the installation and make a

complete refill -> capacity reduction up to 17%• Temperature glide

Refrigerant R134aRefrigerant R134aRefrigerant R134a

Refrigerant for extreme ambient temperatures

Advantages• No mixture of components• No Temperatureglide• Servicefriendly

DisadvantageReduction of cooling capacity has to be compensated by using bigger compressors

R134a

100% R134a

Also EER reduction

Electronic Expansion ValveElectronicElectronic Expansion ValveExpansion Valve• Fast reaction time 1.5 second

• Fully true hermetic design, body from stainless steel

• No additional solenoid valve necessary

• Continuous modulation of mass flow, no stress in the refrigeration circuit

• Ceramic slide and port parts for highly accurate flow and minimal wear

Note brand of EEV - Alco

Controlled dehumidification at constant airflow

Electronic Expansion Valve: Benefit

No risk of hot spots

->Means safe conditions for computer equipment

Extended dehumidification (selectable)if the preseted humidity is not reached after 30 minutes the airflow will be reduced in addition

Sounds like they are not sure of how well it will work

The EEV valve opens for dehum operation ?

It seems like they have had some issues with hot spots in the room by varying the air flow

• Increased capacity and COP by precise control with short response time and point-precise setting of superheating

• optimized saturation of the evaporator

• Low pressure can be controlled independent of high pressureTherewith is cold water usable to increase capacity in water-cooled DX systems

• Only two EEVs covers the whole capacity range ( from 10 up to 60 kW)

• The same valve can be used for all refrigerants

Electronic Expansion Valve: Benefit

Besides Uniflair and Citec, Stulz will be the only major manufacturer who includes the EEV as standard

R407C R134aR410A

This will be an option on DS and Himod.

Expect another Energy Efficiency play here.

New Compressors series

• Extension of Copeland series “Summit“• Reduced dimensions and weight• One bottom plate for all • One height• Always same connection points• World wide available• Advanced Scroll Temperature Protection

(ASTP)Selling the benefits of Copeland Scroll compressors!

Page 9: Stulz Cyber Air 2 - Whats New V1 (2) LEWIS

9

Advanced Scroll Temperature Protection (ASTP)Advanced Scroll Temperature Protection (ASTP)Advanced Scroll Temperature Protection (ASTP)

• ASTP protects your compressor from excessively high discharge temperatures

• The compressor is protected, but the motor runs further.

• Internal balance between high pressure and suction side

One of the many features of Copeland Scroll compressors

Based on the Beat Stulz program and Silver Bullets presentations & critique it appears that the changes have been now made to the CyberAir 2 to counter our criticism

liquid receiver /safety valve

Himod and PEX always had it

Even though it looks like the EC fan plate is hinged for service, for access need to it lift out

Note top and bottom handles

The humidifier has to be removed on the LH side

Pipe connections obstruct on the LH side

The middle fan should be OK to remove

In all cases the mullions maybe in the way

Note - This shows a 3 fan unit, a single fan unit will have both the fans and pipework in front of the fan

The lifting in and out of replacement compressors at least 600 mm above floor level will be interesting

position

It was nearly impossible to replace heater elements

Pipework in front of compressors

Access more difficult on Water cooled units

Fan access from rear, with some models also requiring side access

Uneven reheat only on one side of unit

Once field piping connected how will the heater element be removed

Receiver mounted on inner skin

Solder Fittings were replaced with Pipe Elbows

The pipework still looks rough

EEV location

No Valve or spud connection on compressor Hot works still required in room.

Now flare connection on the drier

Yes all the possibilities was a nightmare for the contractor

Pipe duct area leads contractor to run pipework in front of and across fan outlet

Concentration of re heat at one end / side of unit

Overlapping elements. Multiple W shape elements

Once field piping connected how will the heater element be removed

Water cooled units not shown where the pipework and WRV will take up more access space

Why do they need service flaps ?

To clean out the condensate tray

To access the humidifier distribution pipes

A Cross SectionA Cross SectionA Cross SectionBased on a width of 890mm this CAD dwg shows the unit to be over 2000mm high

Distance between Fan inlet and back panel is approx 200mm

Condensate and Humidifier distributor daintray app 200 mm below the bottom of the evap. coil

Filter overlaps coil to allow for smooth air flow

No condensate trap provided in the unit

Looks like a 560mm dia EC fan

steam-pipe distribution

OK Why do they need service flaps = Service flaps can be seen just in front of the distributor nozzle pipe

Good steam distribution compared to the previous single outlet on CyberAir 1

Still no by pass air which could be a problem with water in the base of unit and and floor

New Condenser - TargetNew Condenser New Condenser -- TargetTarget

• Higher availability

• Cost Reduction

• Clear product line

• Cancellation of former temperature classification

• Reduction of sound pressure groups (only two are requested from the market)

• Epoxy coating for all sizes (continuously available as option)

• Free choice of casing material (Aluminium or galvanised steel)

Looks like at least 6 rows deep. Condenser Fan Power consumption not considered in Calculations!?!?

Cabling and piping loose

Will follow existing philosophy e.g. Pressure actuated Fan cycling control fitted as an option or Fan speed control supplied loose for the contractor to fit as options when requested

No isolating switch fitted as standard or as an option

Page 21: Stulz Cyber Air 2 - Whats New V1 (2) LEWIS

21

CondenserCondenserCondenserFormer condenser product family:

• 57 different condensers types

• 3 sound groups A, B and C

• 3 temperature classes X,Y and Z

• after all only 37 different condensers, because some Z condensers are same to construction like the X condenser of smaller achievement and some C condensers are also used in sound group A

The new series consists of:• 27 types• 2 sound groups (There will be

13 standards and 14 LowNoisetypes)

• All Types in 50Hz and 60Hz available

Sounds simple but probably lost in the translation

Presuming that the new series will also be outsourced
