    DX - EVAPORATOR SECTIONS

    Air Cooled Remote Evaporator(Models CCU/D-( )-A)

    The system shall be a remote (split) aircooled, floor mounted precision airconditioner evaporator. The evapora-tor section shall house, as a minimum,the evaporator coil, expansion valve,return air filter, compressor, evaporatorblower/motor and associated electricaland refrigeration components.

    The CCU/D-( )-A evaporator section

    shall be located at some distance fromits corresponding STULZ-ATS modelSCS-( )-( ) outdoor air cooled con-denser.

    The evaporator system shall requireonly a single point main power supplyconnection; and the system shall shipfrom the STULZ-ATS factory with a drynitrogen holding charge ready for fieldrefrigerant (R407c) charging.

    DX - WATER COOLED SYSTEMS

    Integral Self-Contained(Models CCU/D-( )-W)

    The system shall be a self-contained,floor mounted precision air conditionerto include integral water cooled, plate-fin condenser with factory installedhead pressure water regulating controlvalve(s). Condenser (source) watershall be provided by a cooling tower orsome other remote water source.

    The system shall require only singlepoint supply power connection andshall ship from the STULZ-ATS fac-tory with a full operating refrigerant(R407c) charge.

    QUALITY ASSURANCE

    (ISO-9001:2001 Registered)

    STULZ-ATS operates in an ISO-9001:2001 registered quality con-

    trol environment. Each STULZ-ATSemployee is committed to satisfyinghis or her customer expectationswith the highest level of consistent,measurable and continuous qualityimprovement.

    GENERAL GUIDESPECIFICATION

    General Description

    The system shall be a floor mountedair conditioner designed and built toprovide precision temperature andhumidity control. The system shall becomplete and factory run-tested beforeshipment. The system shall be IntertekLaboratory (an NRTL) listed and labeledin compliance with UL 1995 and CSAC22.2 No. 236.

    The system shall be manufactured byStulz Air Technology Systems, Inc. in

    Frederick, Maryland, USA.

    Service Access

    The air conditioner shall require frontaccess for all routinely serviced compo-nents. In rare cases of critical compo-nent failure, additional access shall berequired (CCU/D-41 to 121).

    Cabinet Construction

    Access panels shall be fabricated fromheavy gauge steel and shall be se-curely attached to the base and topplates. Access panels shall be powdercoated to match and provide corrosionprotection. The panels shall be linedwith 1/2 (13 mm), 2 lb/ft2(.90 kg),high-density sound and thermal insula-tion and sealed with self-extinguishinggasketing conforming to NFPA 90Aand 90B.

    Electrical System

    Modular Motor Controllers

    The system shall incorporate modularmotor controllers utilizing motor startprotectors and circuit breakers elimi-nating the need for fusing, as well asproviding:

    Motor branch circuit short circuit protection Motor load switching controllers (contactors) Motor overload protection

    The system shall incorporate over-current and overload protection inaccordance with UL 1995 require-ments. Each blower motor, compres-sor, electric heater stage and humidifier(if applicable) shall be provided with

    a factory mounted and wired starter/contactor.

    The control circuit shall be a 24 VACClass 2 low voltage circuit includinga circuit breaker for protection. Lowvoltage, high voltage and groundingwires shall be color coded and shall beindividually numbered at each end forease of service tracing. All wiring shallbe in accordance with the NationalElectric Code (NEC).

    Main Power - ElectricNon-Fused Service Switch

    As a factory standard, a unit-mountedmain power service switch shall beprovided. The service switch shall be adust-proof, non-fused type with lock-able handle.

    Evaporator Coils

    Evaporator systems shall be configuredfor a draw-thru air pattern to provide

    uniform air distribution over the evapo-rator coil face. The coils shall be seam-less drawn copper tubes, mechanicallybonded to tempered aluminum finswith fin pattern designed for maximumheat transfer. Coil end plates shall behot dipped galvanized.

    The evaporator coil shall be mountedin an insulated stainless steelcondensate drain pan.

    DX-Refrigeration System

    All refrigeration piping shall be refrig-erant grade tubing. Each refrigerantcircuit shall include, as a minimum,refrigerant drier/strainer, sight glasswith moisture detector, thermal expan-sion valve with rapid bleed port featureand external equalizer, evaporator coil,compressor, high pressure switch withmanual reset and a low pressure switchwith automatic reset.

    Split/Remote systems shall have a liquidline solenoid for refrigerant isolationto prevent liquid slugging. All highpressure joints shall be brazed and theentire system shall be pressure testedat the factory with dry nitrogen, evacu-ated to at least 50 microns and fullycharged with refrigerant.

    Note: All split/remote DX systems ship with adry nitrogen holding charge. All self-containedDX systems ship with a full refrigerant (R407c)operating charge.

    Scroll Compressors

    Each compressor shall be a high ef-ficiency, high reliability and low soundScroll Compressor.

    The compressor shall be complete withcharging and service schraeder ports,internal vibration isolation, internalthermal overloads, internal pressure re-

    lief valve, internal discharge gas vibra-tion eliminator and external vibrationmounting isolation.

    Chilled Water Systems

    Cooling Coil:The chilled water cooling coil shallbe contructed of seamleess drawncopper tubes, mechanically bondedto tempered aluminum fins for maxi-mum heat transfer. Coil end platedshall be hot dipped galvanized.

    The cooling coil shall be mounted inan insulated aluminum condensatedrain pan.

    CW Control Valve

    Cooling capacity shall be controlledby a factory installed 3-way, mod-lodulating control valve rated for amazimum 300 psig w.w.p.(Note: 2-way and 3-way and high pressure (to

    400 psig) rated valves are optionally available.)

    Blowers/Motors

    Direct Driven Systems(Models CCU/D-41 to 121)

    The blower shall be direct-driven withdouble-width, double-inlet house-ing and forward-curved blades. Theblower shall be dynamically andstatically balanced to minimize vibra-tion and operate in in the Class 1

    range. The blower shall be corrosionprotected. The blower motor shallhave internal overload protection.Additionally, the fan speed shall havea manual adjustment via a potetiom-eter to meet specific air-flow require-ments.

    Belt Driven Systems(Models CCU/D-171 to 201)

    The blower shall be belt driven withdouble width, double inlet housingand forward curved blades and perma-

    nently lubricated ball bearings sized foran average 100,000 hours of servicelife. The blowers shall be dynamicallyand statically balanced to minimizevibration and operate in the Class Irange.

    C5000 Microprocessor based Tem-

    perature and Humidity controller with

    Alarms. The controller shall incorporate

    a user-friendly operating environ-

    ment, to allow easy system setup and

    operation.

    The C5000 is a complete microproces-

    sor based control system designed for

    operating, controlling and monitoring

    the precision air conditioning unit.

    The C5000 controller shall include a full-

    featured LED display for visual indication

    of the units operating conditions.

    User Interface

    The user interface shall feature an easy

    to read, liquid-crystal alpha-numerical

    display. The keypad/display allows

    the operator to visually monitor and

    customize unit functions and settings.

    The controller is operated via a 4-key

    menu-driven windows type structure,

    in three different modes: Information,

    Operation, and Servie.

    Field ConfigurableThe C5000 controller is field program

    configurable and capable of matching

    the unique needs of any data center,

    telecommunication or other critical

    area.

    Sensor Location Options

    As a standard, the C5000 temperature

    and humidity sensor shall be factory unit

    mounted in the return air stream of the

    Precision AC unit, after the return air

    filter(s).

    System Setup & Adjustments

    The C5000 shall be completely factory

    preprogrammed, and therefore, most

    applications will require no field setup.

    However, the default set points and

    their ranges are easily adjusted from

    C5000 keypad/display.

    including the time and date of the alarm

    Control Inputs/Outputs

    The C5000 is capable of both digital

    (on/off) and analog input and output

    device control. Prior to shipment, each

    Precision AC units C5000 is factory

    program configured to match the unit

    system operational requirements.

    Temperature Anticipation

    The C5000 shall incorporate a self-cali-

    brating and self-adjusting control logic

    that adjusts the response of the STULZ-

    ATS air conditioner to changes in tem-

    perature and humidity. The system shall

    provide premium setpoint accuracy while

    controlling the room conditions rate

    of change, minimizing the equipment

    energy consumption and maximizing the

    systems operating life and reliability.

    Power Loss Restart

    In the event of a loss of power to the

    system, the C5000 can be configured

    for Automatic or Manual Restart. The

    C5000s non-volatile memory enables

    the system to restart when power is

    restored, without the loss of the last

    stored set points and other system con-

    figuration settings.

    Sequential Load Activation

    To minimize the total in rush current

    loads during system startup/restart, the

    C5000 controller shall be configured for

    time-delay sequence startup. The user

    can designate specific unit restart time-

    delays, as well as, each units respective

    electric heater and/or humidifier. Unit

    restart delay can be adjusted from 0 to

    10 minutes.

    Recovery Delay

    After a power loss, the C5000s Recovery

    Delay feature allows the system to oper-

    ate without initiating any high or low

    temperature or humidity alarms for a

    delayed period. This feature allows time

    (15 to 60 minutes adj.) to pull-down

    the conditioned spaces load without

    nuisance alarms during initial startup or

    power loss restart.

    Security

    Multiple security levels prevent unauthor-

    ized adjustment of critical system control

    parameters.

    Diagnostic & Service Mode

    The C5000 shall incorporate a unique

    self-diagnostics algorithm that continu-

    ally tests systems functions and hardware

    operation. In the event of such a failure,

    the user will be alerted to the condition

    via a visual and audible alarm.

    Control Board

    The Control Board shall initiate a self-test

    of the control system.

    Input Diagnostics

    All system inputs and output devices shall

    be continuously monitored for proper

    operation.

    Night Set-back

    The C5000 shall include Night Set-Back

    occupied/non-occupied energy saving

    modes. This feature enables the user

    to customize each units daily 5-day/

    weekly and 2-day/weekend operational

    schedule.

    Remote BMS Connection

    MIB GATEWAY (Optional)

    C5000 Inputs & Outputs shall be

    remotely monitored (address read-

    able) and remotely controlled (address

    writable) via any building management

    system (BMS)/local area network (LAN)

    control system that can communicate

    via a ModBus protocol. Each C5000

    configured for BMS communication

    shall incorporate an RS-485 Serial

    Communication Port that is field con-

    nected to a factory-provided wall-

    mounted MIB Gateway.

    MIB-FS GATEWAY (Optional)

    C5000 Inputs & Outputs shall be

    remotely monitored (address read-

    able) and remotely controlled (address

    writable) via a building management

    system (BMS)/local area network (LAN)

    control system. Available Protocols,

    Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, Bacnet

    IP, Bacnet MSTP, Bacnet Ethernet,

    Metasys N-2, and Lonworks.

    Each C5000 configured for BMS com-

    munication shall incorporate an RS-485

    Serial Communication Port that is field

    connected to a factory-provided, wall-

    mounted MIB Gateway. The MIB-FS

    requires field configuration. Number

    of units, type of protocol employed,

    and individual data-points monitored

    must be configured in the MIB-FS prior

    to use.

    Humidity Control

    Canister Steam Humidification:

    (standard)

    The humidifier shall be an electrodesteam canister type and shall havean adjustable humidity output setting

    from 25 to 100% of the full ratedhumidifier capacity. The humidi-fier shall incorporate an automaticflush cycle that senses the currentconsumption of the humidifier andcontrols mineral concentration of thewater. A Change Cylinder light

    shall notify service personnel whenthe humidification output is belowrated requirements and when mainte-nance is due.

    Dehumidification Cycle:

    (standard)

    The floor A/C shall be provided with arefrigeration based dehumidificationmode. Moisture is condensed on the

    cooling coil and discharged throughthe condensate drain. Reheat (electric,hot gas, steam or hot water) shall beprovided to offset sensible cooling dur-ing the dehumidification cycle.

    Electric Heat/Reheat:(standard)

    CCU/CCD-41/121-( )

    A factory-mounted and wired electricresistance heater shall be included toprovide automatic sensible reheatingmode during the dehumidificationcycle and automatic heating modeas required. Electric heaters shall beprovided with thermal/magnetic circuitbreakers which shall protect each con-ductor. Included shall be one automaticresetting and one manual resettable,over-temperature safety device (pilotduty).

    CCU/CCD-171/201-( )A factory mounted and wired low-watt density, plated fin-tubular designelectric resistance heater shall beincluded to provide automatic sen-sible re-heating as required during thedehumidification cycle and automaticheating mode. Electric heaters shallbe provided with miniature thermal/magnetic circuit breakers, which shallprotect each ungrounded conductor.Also included will be one automaticreset and one manual reset over-tem-perature safety device (pilot duty). Twostages of electric reheat/heat shall beprovided as standard.

    Reheat Options

    Hot Gas Reheat:(Models CCU/D-( )-A, W, & G only)

    A factory piped and wired hot gasreheat valve shall be provided to divertthe hot compressor discharge gas fromthe condenser to the hot gas reheatcoil during the dehumidification cycle.This energy saving feature shall require

    no additional energy to assist in offset-ting the sensible cooling capacity whilein the dehumidification mode.

    Hot Water Reheat/Heat

    A factory-installed, copper tube,aluminum fin heat/reheat coil and2-way control valve shall be providedto control the flow of hot water forautomatic sensible reheating modeduring the dehumidification cycle andautomatic heating mode as required.

    Condensate Pump(Factory Mounting Available)

    A condensate pump shall befactory- installed on models CCU/D-171/201-A/W/G, and shall ship looseon all other models for automaticremoval of condensate and humidi-

    fier flush water (if applicable).

    The condensate pump shall includean internal overflow safety floatswitch which, when wired to theA/C's remote stop/start terminals,shall open the A/C's control circuit,thereby shutting the A/C down in theevent of a condensate overflow.

    The condensate pump shall bespecifically designed to operate withthe higher condensate temperaturescaused by the flush and drain cycle ofthe electrode canister humidifiers.

    The condensate pump shall be ratedfor 145 GPH at 40 ft. of head with a

    shut-off at 50 ft. of head.

    Smoke Detector

    A photo-electric smoke detector shallbe factory-installed in the Mini-Spaceevaporator section on the suction sideof the evaporator blower.

    The smoke detector shall be rated forhigh air velocity applications, and shallshut down the air conditioner uponsensing smoke in the return air stream.

    Optional Auxiliary Contact:An auxiliary dry-contact (n/o) termi-nal connection shall be provided forremote notification of a smoke detec-tion alarm.

    Firestat

    The air conditioner shall be providedwith a factory wired and mounted fir-estat. The firestat shall shut down theair conditioner upon sensing a highreturn air temperature.

    Remote Water Detectors

    Single (one)- Spot Type Detector:

    Quantity 1-(one) remote spot typewater/leak detector per A/C unit shallbe factory provided for remote fieldinstallation. Upon sensing a waterleak, the normally closed water detec-tor control circuit shall open, therebyshutting down the air conditioner'swater producing operations.

    25 Ft. - Strip/Cable Type Detector:

    A 25 ft. in length remote strip/cabletype water/leak detector shall befactory provided for remote field in-stallation. Upon sensing a water leak,the normally closed water detectorcontrol circuit shall open, thereby shut-ting down the air conditioner's waterproducing operations.

    Low EnteringCondenser Water Kit
