Style Analysis

Mamma is all about a disturbed young man called Jeffrey, who gets affected by a financial crisis in 2008 and he kills his wife and two business partners. However he then escapes to a forest with his two daughters, 3 year old victoria and toddler Lily. The man then wants to kill his children and commit suicide, but his plan fails when a creature comes out of the shadows and kills him and sparing the girls.

Five years pass and Jeffreyʼs brother Lucas, who never gave up looking for the two girls, sent out a search party who then finds the girls. Although things have changed a lot over the five years and the two girls act more like animals than human beings. But Lucas is determined to bring the two girls back to civilisation, even though he knows it would be a hard task. So Lucas and his girlfriend Annabel take on the challenge.

Victoria responds to the treatment well however Lilly having had nearly zero human contact since she was a baby, she is unresponsive for the longest time. The children were then found talking to an invisible person, playing with it and even being looked after by it.

As time progresses both of the girls begin to realize that Annabel is trying to help the two of them. So the girls try and warn Annabel that ʻmamaʼ is dangerous and could kill her, this is why they try to keep their distance from Annabel at the beginning of the film.
