Why introduce Subject-based Banding?
• To provide more flexibility to pupils with strengths and abilities that vary across subjects
• To encourage greater interaction among pupils with different strengths
Direct School Admission (DSA) Secondary Exercise (DSA-Sec)
aims to promote holistic education gives participating schools greater flexibility in
selecting students provides opportunities for students to
demonstrate a more diverse range of achievements and talents in seeking admission to secondary schools
Each school has its own merit-based academic and non-academic criteria for selection

USE OF CALCULATORS IN PRIMARY MATHEMATICS
• Achieve a better balance between emphasis on computational skills and problem solving skills in teaching and learning and in assessment.
• Widen the repertoire of teaching and learning approaches to facilitate the use of investigations and problems in authentic situations; and
• Help students, particularly those with difficulty learning mathematics, develop greater confidence in doing mathematics.
