Ecclesiastes 3 “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be

born, and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a

time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to cast away

stones, and a time together stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time

to seek and time to lose; a time to keep and time to cast away; a time to end and a time sew; a time to

keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.”

Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego – Daniel 3: 16-1816 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied

to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

• 1 Sam. 25 When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off her donkey and bowed down before David with her face to the ground. She fell at his feet and said: “My lord, let the blame be on me alone. Please let your servant speak to you; hear what your servant has to say. May my lord pay no attention to that wicked man Nabal. He is just like his name—his name is Fool, and folly goes with him. But as for me, your servant, I did not see the men my master sent.

“Now since the LORD has kept you, my master, from bloodshed and from avenging yourself with your own hands, as surely as the LORD lives and as you live, may your enemies and all who

intend to harm my master be like Nabal. And let this gift, which your servant has brought to my master, be given to

the men who follow you. Please forgive your servant’s offense, for the LORD will certainly make a lasting dynasty for

my master, because he fights the LORD’s battles. Let no wrongdoing be found in you as long as you live. Even though

someone is pursuing you to take your life, the life of my master will be bound securely in the bundle of the living by

the LORD your God. But the lives of your enemies he will hurl away as from the pocket of a sling. When the LORD has done for my master every good thing he promised concerning him and has appointed him leader over Israel, my master will not

have on his conscience the staggering burden of needless bloodshed or of having avenged himself. And when the LORD

has brought my master success, remember your servant.”

“ When Abigail went to Nabal, he was in the house holding a banquet like that of a king.

He was in high spirits and very drunk. So she told him nothing until daybreak. Then in the

morning, when Nabal was sober, his wife told him all these things, and his heart failed him and he became like a stone. About ten

days later, the LORD struck Nabal and he died.”

I Samuel 25:36-38

Esther – Esther 4:15-16 “Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for

three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I

perish.”

Romans 13: 1-6 “ Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority

except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by

God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has

instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for

those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in

authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4 For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does

not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on

the wrongdoer.

5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible

punishment but also because of conscience.6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the

authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if

revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
