METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR FLOOR SCREEDING AND HARDENER WORKS FOR PROJECT SGA-EXTERNAL SERVICES BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES

Rev.no 0

1. Introduction

The methodology outlines the sequence of works for the proposed installation of Floor Screeding and

Hardener Works as the part of the Construction of Contract.

2. Scope of Works

1. To deliver approved materials in pallets form to respective work areas including proper designated covered storage area.

2. To do setting out based on given dimension in approved drawings. 3. To mix the E-Mix Easi screed cement sand mortar evenly with water in mixer prior to spreading

the mix onto the existing floor. 4. To mix the Nitroflor Hardtop hardener evenly with water in mixer prior to spreading the mix onto

the existing floor. 5. Housekeeping and periodic cleaning.

3. Construction Resources

Index Plant and Equipment

1 Electrical Mixer

2 Wooden / Steel Float

3 Spade

4 Laser Pointer

5 Yellow Plastic Pail

6 Trowel

7 Measuring Container

8 Measurement Tape

9 Wheel Barrow

4. Construction Methodology of Floor Screeding

4.1. Preparation Work

4.1.1. Clearances

1. Ensure that structural and MEP clearances are obtained prior to proceeding with works

4.1.2. Level Checking

1. Before commencing with any works, to conduct the setting out & check reference points. 2. Ensure supervisor to have a set of approved shop drawings showing the levels such as FFL /

SFL.

3. Ensure to check the levels that has given and marked on site with approved shop drawing. If the levels are same, proceed to start the works.

4. Upon completion of the level checking, start to build level pegs as per required and approved levels. If finishing floor is purely screed, level pegs will be at the height of the approved levels reflected within shop drawing. At areas where a gradient in the finished floor is required, varying screed level peg height will be prepared accordingly.

5. In the event floor finishes are tiled, height of level pegs will have to deduct thickness of tile and tiling adhesive.

6. Level peg shall be installed at proper intervals.

4.1.3. Cleaning

1. The substrates must be clean and sound, free from dust and loose particles. 2. Ensure that the MEP openings on the slab such as floor drains are provided with temporary

protection, so as to prevent clogging when screed is laid. Protection is to be by the respective MEP contractors

3. Cement laitance, oil, grease mould release oil or curing compound must be removed from concrete surfaces.

4. Voids underneath should be avoided. 5. A layer of slurry (cement with water ratio 1:6) to apply to the concrete surface to enhance the

bonding properties.

4.1.4. Mixing

1. Add 40 bag of E-mix screed eco with approximately 5.0 – 6.4 liters of clean water into a clean site stir/mix with a low speed side facing mini barrel type concrete mixer until a desired homogeneous mix is achieved by approximately 3 to 5 minutes.

2. A measuring container is used to measure 6 liters of water required for each mix and use the yellow pail of 6 liters in volume is used.

4.2. Application of E-Mix Screed Eco

1. Prior to screed work, apply bonding agent onto the floor surface when necessary. (No bonding agent is applied to areas where there is geotextile membrane)

2. Apply E-Mix Easi Screed Eco onto the substrate using a wooden/steel float or trowel. 3. A maximum thickness of 10-40 mm can be applied per application. 4. For screed with thickness of 50-100 mm, it is recommended to apply in multiple coats. 5. For screed with thickness more than 50mm, wire mesh will be required to be installed. 6. The first coat should act as textured key for subsequent coat to improve adhesion. 7. Textured key should be done using a wire scratcher. In during that period, shall be

compaction the screed by the vibrator (Air compressor). 8. Under-laying layer should be cured for at least 12 hours before application of new layer. 9. E-Mix Floor Screed should be cured for at least 24 hours prior to any floor tiling or floor

granite works. 10. Once the screeding has completed, must have to check the levelling as per the approved

shop drawing. 11. Ensure to make M&W specs finishes, as on the floor finishing levels.

5. Construction Methodology of Floor Hardener

5.1. Preparation Work

5.1.1. Surface Preparation

1. Surface to be treated with Nitoflor Hardtop must be structurally sound and free from loose

materials. 2. Cracks or holes can be repaired using a recommended Fosroc repair material that should be

allowed to cure prior to start work. 3. Oil and grease contaminated surfaces should be treated with suitable chemical de-greaser

followed by washing with clean water and allowed to dry. 4. Any laitance or existing coating must be removed prior to application by mop, as this will

prevent Nitoflor Hardtop from penetrating. 5. If the concrete surface is dusty, dilution of Nitoflor Hardtop at 1:1 ratio with water is

recommended as first coat so as to allow the low viscosity solution penetrates into the pores of the concrete and get absorbed.

6. Subsequent coats without dilution are required.

5.2. Application

1. Ensure the surface to be treated is dry and apply the mixed Nitoflor Hardtop at a rate approximately 1 litre to every 10 m² using a soft broom or brush.

2. Allow the solution to be absorbed into the floor for a period of up to 2 hours, any solution not absorbed after this period should be removed. Failure to do so will result in the formation of weak, glossy surface film following the drying.

3. Normally two to three coat application is recommended for complete treatment. 4. For a very dense, well-trowelled surfaces such as granolithic toppings, power floated or

vacuum dewatered concrete will generally require only a single coat. 5. If a second coat is necessary, reapply the solution after 24 hours ensuring that the floor is dry.

6. Curing

1. Covered the floor screed and hardener with polyethylene sheet for at least 7 days to prevent drying out.

2. Floor screeding is to be protected against damages, wear and contamination.
