SubStation™ The SubStaon™ with V2.3 firmware is the perfect soluon for difficult retrofing situaons or complex irrigaon sites. The SubStaon provides access to the industry-leading BaseStaon 3200™ controller using a local area network (LAN) or using cloud based communicaon. This wireless funconality means you can consolidate mulple exisng controllers into a single BaseStaon 3200 controller without running expensive wire across long distances. You can also establish new irrigaon zones in areas separated from the main controller by obstacles such as driveways or parking lots.

Aer the SubStaon is connected, you can take full advantage of the powerful BaseStaon 3200 capabilies to program the SubStaon’s zones from any locaon.

BaseStation 3200 Features • The BaseStaon 3200 has 8 available addresses for TCP/IP-based performance components. Each

SubStaon connecon uses one of these addresses.

• Total device counts, including the devices connected to all SubStaons must remain within theBaseStaon 3200 specificaons.

• SubStaon devices that exceed the BaseStaon 3200 limits are ignored.

• All search and assign operaons for SubStaon devices are performed from the BaseStaon 3200 orfrom BaseManager.

• All programming operaons for SubStaon devices are performed from the BaseStaon 3200 orfrom BaseManager.

• All test operaons for SubStaon devices are performed from the BaseStaon 3200 or fromBaseManager.

• Displays status of the SubStaon connecon and reports the number of each type of device fromlast search.

• For SubStaon compability, ensure that the BaseStaon 3200 is running firmware version 12.32 orgreater.

Communication Requirements • The SubStaon requires an IP address on the Local Area Network (LAN) or a cellular network to

communicate with a BaseStaon 3200.

• The SubStaon shall be capable of communicang with a BaseStaon 3200 using a LAN or using acloud-based opon. The SubStaon and the BaseStaon 3200 shall be on the same subnet whenconfigured for LAN communicaon.

• A SubStaon is assigned to the BaseStaon 3200 by programming the IP address of the SubStaoninto the controller at the controller interface or remotely in the cloud.

• The SubStaon can be assigned a stac IP address or it can operate in DHCP mode.

• The BaseStaon 3200 has 8 available addresses for TCP/IP-based performance components. EachSubStaon connecon uses one of these addresses.

• A single BaseStaon 3200 can communicate with SubStaons using a Local Area Network (LAN) orusing cloud-based communicaon or it can do both simultaneously.

• Where an exisng network is not available, a radio network can be set up using Baseline EthernetRadios or Wi-Fi communicaon modules. Access to the Internet is not required. Please see theEthernet Radio Technical Specificaon and the Wi-Fi Module Technical Specificaon for moreinformaon.

Information Security Controls The SubStaon includes informaon security controls that enable secure networking with other Baseline products.

To learn more about the SubStaon security controls, refer to the Baseline Security Controls Technical Specificaon available on the Baseline website.

Communication Options

Ethernet Cable Every SubStaon has a built-in Ethernet port. No addional hardware is required for Ethernet-based communicaon.

Wi-Fi Communication Modules The SubStaon is compable with Baseline’s Wi-Fi module.

Ethernet Radio (Spread Spectrum) Communication Modules The SubStaon is compable with Baseline’s Ethernet Radio modules.

Every Ethernet radio configuraon requires at least one radio that is configured as a gateway. The BL-ER-C is an Ethernet radio in a “C” series enclosure with factory default sengs as a gateway. It can also be configured as a repeater. One repeater may be inserted between a gateway and endpoint if required.

Ethernet Switch When there are mulple devices that require an Ethernet connecon, an Ethernet switch should be specified along with the BaseStaon 3200 or the SubStaon. To determine whether an Ethernet switch is required, count the number of devices in an enclosure that have an Ethernet Port. If more than one device has an Ethernet port and only one Ethernet connecon is available, an Ethernet switch is required. The SubStaon, BaseStaon 3200 controllers, Ethernet Radios, and Wi-Fi modules all have Ethernet ports.

4G LTE Cellular Modem The SubStation is compatible with Baseline's 4G LTE Cellular Modem.
